“The name says it all!”
We loved the Splendid! The staff, the location, everything was just what we were looking for. We upgraded to a junior suite when we got there (they included breakfast in the upgrade) and had a front corner (it's on the point of a triangular city block), 4th floor view of the Eiffel Tower! We also had windows on either side of the room that opened, for a nice view of the street and its sounds. The Splendid is located across the street from a little market, an ATM, and a tiny walk-in street cafe run by a great couple of guys from Tunisia. There's a nice open-air cafe on the corner, just across the street from Ecole Militaire. Les Invalides is 1 block away in the opposite direction (but not visible form the hotel...it faces the opposite direction). It's also about 1 block from Champs de Mars, the park in front of the Eiffel Tower. There's a taxi stand and metro station 1/2 block away. We ended up staying more days than originally planned due to TGV congestion over the Easter holiday and the staff was lovely and accommodating. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for everything is that our son had to sleep on a pull-out sofa bed that the slats kept falling out of, but he said was very comfortable. In fact, he said it was more comfortable than the one he slept on our last night in Paris at a different 4 star hotel (the Splendid was booked for our final night). The Splendid isn't fancy (no bidet), but we LOVED it! I can't imagine a better location, very safe. Highly recommended!
“location, location, location”
what a location! Metro is just near by. easy to go everywhere
“Great Location”
This hotel is really close to the Eiffel Tower and two blocks away from a metro station. It was great for us because we didn't have a lot of time to see everything in the city. The customer service was great. The room was small and a little outdated, but overall fine for a short stay. The location made this hotel. Well worth it.
“Awesome view of the Eiffel Tower! We'd love to go back!”
The staff was very friendly, and conversant in English, our native language, so we felt at home right away. Our room was small, but had a balcony with the most awesome view of the Eiffel tower! We loved it! The hotel is near to many of the main attractions we wanted to visit, such as the Rodin sculpture gardens and museum, the Golden dome church, where Napoleon is entombed, and of course the Eiffel Tower. There was a great marketplace nearby with lots of restaurants and shopping. The hotel staff also helped book a dinner cruise on the Seine, which we enjoyed immensely. We only had three days to spend in Paris, but we made the most of our trip due to the fabulous location of the hotel - I highly recommend it!
“Great location, Outstaind staff but NO air conditioning in the rooms!”
Staff was extremelly friendly and helpfull at all times. Great location, near Tour Eiffel, Invalidés Square and subway stations. The MAJOR downside was there were NO Air Conditioners, whatsoever, in the entire hotel. We went to Paris in a hot mid August season and had to endure being in a room that was hotter than outside. We had to request an extra fan in order to get some sleep. Another propblem was that "Do Not Disturb" signs haging outside of your room means the same as nothing. Even though we had the sign hanging outside of the room, the maid opened the door and almost got my husband and I dressing up. Very unpleasant... Well, hopefully the hotel management will realize that these (specially the air conditioning) are really urgent issues. I`d recommed this hotel only if you have no issues with really hot environments, or if you are going to Paris in the winter (they have heaters in the rooms). Other than that, we had a great time in the City of Lights!
“Can't beat the view!”
It's my second stay at this hotel and I love its charm. Beautiful view of the Eiffel tower from the balcony and easy walking distance to the tour buses and other tourist spots. It was hot when I was in Paris and the hotel doesn't have air conditioning but we left the windows open at night and it is a quiet neighborhood and enjoyed the fresh air. They were getting fans when we left-so I would reserve one
“This Hotel Rocks”
This Hotel rocks!!! Great location. I think they advertised 2 blocks from the Eiffel Tower which is not exactly true. This hotel is 2 blocks from Champ De Mars which is the green space/park leading to the Eiffel Tower. Champ De Mars is at least 3 blocks in length itself. I didn't care, it was still in a great location, near Metro. The staff was very polite, professional and spoke English very well. The breakfast in the Hotel was delicious and very reasonable. Very comfortable room. I requested a balcony room with a view of the Eiffel and they gave it to me. All in all, I was extremely satisfied with my stay at the Splendid Hotel.
“Great value and great neighborhood”
The hotel is situated near the Eiffel Tower, Invalides, and several Metro stations. As I was traveling for work, cleanliness and quiet rooms were my main motivating factors, and the hotel more than met my expectations. I also appreciated the fact that there is a grocery store just around the corner. Having stayed in several hotels in this neighborhood, I will definitely return to the Splendid Hotel for another visit.
“Great Vacation at the Splendid”
Our stay at the Splendid Hotel in Paris was wonderful. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The location could not have been better and we were able to see the Eiffel Tower from our room. There was also a metro station and a great place to get groceries right around the corner. The front desk staff spoke English and were so very nice and cheerful. I would stay there again without doubt.
“Not a Value”
When we first arrived, we were told that our room was not ready and were offered an upgraded room at an upgraded price. When we said we would stick with what we had booked, all of a sudden the room we booked became available. The room was very tiny and the bathroom even smaller. The hotel needs a remodel and is not worth what we paid. Location is great. Staff was fluent in English and friendly, but not reliable. For instance, they forgot our wake-up call the day we were leaving early to catch a plane.
