“Terrass Hotel a Honeymoon Haven”

Truly enjoyed our stay at the Terrass Hotel in Montmatre which is on the outskirts of Paris. Small room but quite romantic. Just right for honeymooners. Fantastic view! Staff pleasant. The open air terrance on 8th floor was wonderful. Food good; however the resturant was open for breakfast only. Enjoyed the area its resturants and shops. It was easy to get to the heart of Paris from the hotel by bus or subway. We would return to the Terrass and highly recommend it. It lives up to the 4 star status.

Area recommendations
Montmatre because it is on the outskirts of Paris and the highest point in the city. While the area can be busy it never seemed extremely crowded with tourist. It's like the tale of two cities in that you have the church of the sacred cross up the hill and the Moulin Rouge down the hill. It didn't take a lot of time to get into Paris proper.
When to go
We traveled in the middle of the week from Wednesday to Tuesday because we had just gotten married and our funds were tight. Saved about $2,000 as air and hotel was bundled.
Getting around
The bus and subway systems serving Paris are very efficient. The same ticket can be used for both. We took a shared shuttle from and to the hotel/airport. Only downfall is that we arrived at the hotel well before the check in time. However staff took care of our bags and we were off sight seeing. We had to check out an hour or two earlier than we would have it we had taken a cab to the airport.
Shopping
US dollar worth is lower than the Euro. During our stay if fell approx 20 more cents because the US government had not balance its budget and there was the threat of US defaulting on its loans. Everything is expensive in comparison to pricing in the States.

“Food, Lovely Neighborhood and Wonderful Paris”

I really enjoyed this hotel and the delightful neighborhood. I would definitely return again. A comfortable hotel with a few maintenance problems, like not enough pillows, the staff was helpful and considerate. They got us taxis, helped us plan outings. A delightful bar, sitting area.

Area recommendations
The hotel is at the end of the Abbesses with little stores, shops, restaurants and near a metro station. It was a great place to start the day and end it. Can't wait to return to Paris and The Terrass hotel.

“Highly recommend”

We were in France for 10 days and stayed at several hotels. This hotel was very nice, the room was comfortable and pretty, the bathroom was modern and clean, the hotel staff was gracious and efficient. This hotel is away from the main attractions in Paris, but for us it allowed us to really experience a true neighborhood. We enjoyed walking around the area in the morning.

Area recommendations
We stayed in the Champs Elysee area for four nights, which was very central to visit the main sites. We also enjoyed the Sacra Couer area for one night as it allowed us to experience more of a true "neighborhood"

“Hidden Gem”

This hotel was a positive surprise to us. My husband is from Paris so we are VERY familiar with many of the hotels since we travel there all the time. This hotel has the mosty fabulous views from some of the deluxe rooms, some junior suites and of course the big suite with a large private terace facing all of Paris and with Lounge chairs - WOW!!! Ask for a room with a balcony. Best pasta place in town is right around the corner called Rughetta's and all the local restau's and small digs are generally super good. We where impressed to discover that the restaurant in the Hotel was mostly ECO. Very very impressive initiative!

Area recommendations
Montmartre is super if you are driving to the Fairs at Parc des Expo yourself since you avoid all the city traffic jams. Also a cute neighbourhood with excellent dining ops. Otherwise I would reccomend the Vendome area for the shopping.

“Rude”

we felt unwelcome, to put it bluntly. Treated like we were stupid, not given directions when we even asked in a friendly way "Where is the nearest metro stop?" Made to feel like we couldn't even sit in the restaurant. (Never even asked if we wanted to order something and totally ignored us.) We have traveled extensively and always find a hotel that does their job properly, especially in a foreign country, makes you feel welcome, gives you tips, can offer to book things for you. Not here. There was no "service" at all. Every question I had (which was not many, as I became afraid to ask) was greeted with a blank stare. Not even the simplest amenities like an ice machine.

Traveler's tip
This is pretty far out of the way from most sights except Sacre Coeur....so be prepared to learn the metro lines inside and out (Green to Yellow will get you most places) OR spend millions on rude cabbies who will try to cheat you.

“Gem in Montmartre”

Accommodating staff and well equipped rooms. Decent size for Parisian standards. Good location for both scouring the neighborhood and access to city center. The rooftop terrass is a must see, especially at night while the Eiffel Tower is glittering. Many good restaurants and cafes within walking distance.

Traveler's tip
If you like flea markets do go to the Saint Ouen flea market - about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Plan to spend some time there as it is large.

“Terrass Hotel Paris a treasure!”

First of all, the location, Montmartre, is special in that it is in the heart of a French village; you get to immerse yourelf in the French culture and people. Tastefully decorated spacious room with all sorts of amenities (i.e.coffee pot, desk, iron/ironing board). Bathroom was spacious with a large tub and a separate water closet/toilet room. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. We spoke French (not always fluent!). Found if you made the effort, staff would jump in with English if needed. Do visit or dine on the 7th floor restaurant. The view of the city, including the Eiffel Tower, is spectacular. Would love to go back to Paris - so much to see and would definitely make reservations at the Terrass Hotel again.

Traveler's tip
Go French! Veer away from Americanized hotels. Staying in Montmartre was wonderful - lots of cafes, shops, open markets. Do wear comfortable shoes! Lots of hills and cobblestones. Consider buses as well as the metro. Both are convenient to Montmartre.
