Nice, slightly old-fashioned hotel, good location

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Very nice, slightly old-fashioned hotel seemed well run in all respects. Tucked away in a little side-street on the East of the main centre, close to Place des Vosges and the Marais

I had a lovely stay at this hotel . Location was perfect for seeing all the sights - close enough to walk to most of them . Metro is close by too . Staff were very friendly and helpful . The room was lovely and clean . I would certainly reccomend this hotel to any of my friends and family .

Good hotel, unmanaged

Posted Jun 24, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Hotel manager available for problem solving when needed. And don't charge people 5 euros when they want to print their airline boarding pass.
Location: Great authentic Parisian neighborhood from pre-revolution time
Great location, but unpleasant and insulting experience from hotel staff. No hot water for the 2 families in our group, staying in 2 suites. No showers/baths were possible. We were told both in the evening and the next morning that there was no manager to speak to about it. "Manager is not available. You can email him if you like...". On departure, they unapologetically charged us the full price for both rooms and even added an additional "city tax" beyond what was pre-paid through Expedia. With so many great hotel accommodations in the area, I would definitely choose a different hotel, one with some level of commitment to their guests. Villa Beaumarchais has no such commitment.

Great staff & location, too hot for comfort

Posted Jun 18, 2014
Pros: Reception and domestic staff helpful and polite, especially in helping with onward travel for ourselves and friends during strike.
Cons: Upgrade the air-con to the standard expected for a hotel of this grade. Replace the iron framed furniture with drawers and hanging space.
Location: Location is great, close to the Marais museums, shops and restaurants. Easy access to at least three Metro stations. Walking distance of Pompidou.
We stayed for four nights, having chosen its good location, close to our friends' apartment and the Marais district. Room was small, with a spacious bathroom with good shower, but other facilities expected in a four star hotel were lacking. No drawer space and very limited hanging rail, with nowhere to hang longer clothes or coats. The lack of air-conditioning in the heatwave made staying in the room for any length of time really problematic and sleep virtually impossible, as windows had to be wide open to get any air at all, so noise of other guests and frequent storms could not be excluded. However, the staff are truly excellent: knowledgeable, polite, fluent in several languages and willing to go well beyond reception function by helping us and other guests with disrupted travel plans as a result of unexpected transport strikes. Thanks to the team we all got to our destinations safely.

Wonderful hotel in true European style

Posted Jun 4, 2014
Pros: The price, comfort and helpful friendly staff.
Cons: Everything was perfect. Attention to the room safe as we got locked out a couple of times.
Location: Well located, close to Metro, Bus and good restaurants.
Our stay was very pleasant and enjoyable. This hotel is quaint and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms clean and efficient. We really appreciated the large windows to get fresh air at night. We'll be back.

such disappointing experience

Posted May 4, 2014
When we arrived, lift was not working so my husband had to carry the 50 lb. suitcase up to the 2nd floor- which was 4 flights of stairs. A bellman helped us with the other big luggage. That lift didn't work for 2 days and we stayed there for 3 days. They gave us password for wifi but then we didn't get any for 2 days bec. internet was also not working. The hotel lobby is not the same as in the photos- the tiles are so worn out plus the carpet going up the 2nd floor is too old and dirty. I won't recommend this hotel to anyone- saw a lot better hotels with best location and very good value too. I asked for a tea kettle- gave us one but no cups- have to call and ask again...

Eccentric, but spacious and well located.

Pros: Lovely staff. Very pleasant and spacious lobby area.
Cons: A second room key would have been handy.
Location: The hotel is situated just off the Boulevard Beaumarchais which has a variety of bars etc., and is just 5 minutes from the beautiful Place des Vosges.
Staff were consistently charming and helpful, and spoke good English. I had a room which overlooked the courtyard area and it was therefore extremely quiet. The room was stylish in an attractive, old-fashioned way - perfectly appropriate for a short break in Paris - and spacious. It seemed that the sheets were changed every day, which made it seem very luxurious!

Lovely hotel in a great location

Posted Apr 12, 2014
Pros: The friendly atmosphere and the quirkiness of the decor
Cons: Not a major complaint, but perhaps time for bathrooms to be upgraded
Location: The Marais is a very interesting area to explore. Lots of little bars and restaurants and independent shops
My husband and myself, along with two other couples had a great 3-night stay at the Villa Beaumarchais. Situated on a quiet side street off the busy Boulevard Beaumarchais, this hotel is a little gem. Peaceful, and decorated in an individual style (a pleasant change from the often bland chain hotels) the rooms were spotlessly clean. We stayed in a standard room which was fairly compact, but with everything we needed for a very pleasant stay. The bathrooms perhaps at the stage they need upgrading, but again were very clean and had a bath with shower over. ALL the staff we encountered could not have been more friendly and helpful and we felt really welcome right from the moment we arrived. The hotel is in the Marais district which is lovely, with many shops, bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. It is also not far from the all the major tourist attractions, which can be reached by bus or Metro. Would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a quiet place to stay, in a very interesting area of Paris.
