Good location; disappointing hotel!

Pros: Not a lot apart from its location.
Cons: Maintenance, décor, cleaning timetable!
Location: Near the Marais and the Place des Voges
We have stayed at this hotel 3/4 times over the last 12 years. During this time we have watched it become increasingly shabby; curtains coming off the rails, badly glued together tiles in the bathroom etc. We were in a fourth floor room this time, which in no way matches a four star rating (small, tired décor, little storage space etc). The main problem with it was that the sole lift broke down on our first day and was still not repaired five days later when we left. Climbing eight flights of stairs was the final straw. The rooms weren't cleaned until 3pm, so if you've left the hotel at 9am, walked a lot and would have liked a brief rest you're out of luck! The room was however well cleaned. the bed comfortable and the water hot. The general impression is of neglect (apart from the public area) with maintenance not undertaken until it becomes a crisis. I'm afraid that is our last visit to the hotel; we propose to find another.

Worthwhile

Hotel location is very good, within 10mins walk of Bastille. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and nice. Only issue was the air conditioning in the room didn't work, but staff provided a portable unit which kept atmosphere cooler.

Very nice hotel. Clean, extremely quiet, very friendly and helpful staff. Plenty good dining closeby. Would like to go back.

Very nice, slightly old-fashioned hotel seemed well run in all respects. Tucked away in a little side-street on the East of the main centre, close to Place des Vosges and the Marais

Very central to historic Marais district

Nice hotel with access to the Metro very close. Walkable to the Marais district, Place Des Voges and other historic areas of Paris. Room was comfortable and well maintained and is in a quiet location.

I had a lovely stay at this hotel . Location was perfect for seeing all the sights - close enough to walk to most of them . Metro is close by too . Staff were very friendly and helpful . The room was lovely and clean . I would certainly reccomend this hotel to any of my friends and family .

Good hotel, unmanaged

Pros: Location
Cons: Hotel manager available for problem solving when needed. And don't charge people 5 euros when they want to print their airline boarding pass.
Location: Great authentic Parisian neighborhood from pre-revolution time
Great location, but unpleasant and insulting experience from hotel staff. No hot water for the 2 families in our group, staying in 2 suites. No showers/baths were possible. We were told both in the evening and the next morning that there was no manager to speak to about it. "Manager is not available. You can email him if you like...". On departure, they unapologetically charged us the full price for both rooms and even added an additional "city tax" beyond what was pre-paid through Expedia. With so many great hotel accommodations in the area, I would definitely choose a different hotel, one with some level of commitment to their guests. Villa Beaumarchais has no such commitment.

Safe location - classic French decor

Overall, our stay was a good experience. Hotel is in a safe neighborhood close to public transportation. I was traveling with two family members on their first trip abroad. The hotel requires you to turn in your room key when leaving the hotel. Also, hallways have motion sensors for energy savings, so they are low light with just a couple of small lamps when you first step out of the elevator. We arrived late the first night from a train journey with a taxi strike, so the dark hallway was somewhat unnerving. Things were much better the next day during daylight. Pictures on the website are somewhat misleading as the hotel is not as bright as pictured. Room was very clean. Overall it was a good stay

Great staff & location, too hot for comfort

Pros: Reception and domestic staff helpful and polite, especially in helping with onward travel for ourselves and friends during strike.
Cons: Upgrade the air-con to the standard expected for a hotel of this grade. Replace the iron framed furniture with drawers and hanging space.
Location: Location is great, close to the Marais museums, shops and restaurants. Easy access to at least three Metro stations. Walking distance of Pompidou.
We stayed for four nights, having chosen its good location, close to our friends' apartment and the Marais district. Room was small, with a spacious bathroom with good shower, but other facilities expected in a four star hotel were lacking. No drawer space and very limited hanging rail, with nowhere to hang longer clothes or coats.The lack of air-conditioning in the heatwave made staying in the room for any length of time really problematic and sleep virtually impossible, as windows had to be wide open to get any air at all, so noise of other guests and frequent storms could not be excluded. However, the staff are truly excellent: knowledgeable, polite, fluent in several languages and willing to go well beyond reception function by helping us and other guests with disrupted travel plans as a result of unexpected transport strikes. Thanks to the team we all got to our destinations safely.

Great Hotel!

What a charming hotel, with staff to match. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Because the rooms all face an atrium, it is possible to sleep with the windows open if weather permits. The hotel is located in the Marais/Bastille area, only a block or 2 from the Metro station. There are many restaurants and shops in the area, and the streets are filled with locals.
