A potentially amazing hotel, good rooms, but service a bit disappointing.

Party street off Rue OberkampfPosted Jun 23, 2013
Pros: Location, size of room and bathroom.
Location: Close to Rue Parmentier and the metro, lots of cafes, bars, pharmacies, everything.
If you need somewhere quiet to lay your head, this is not the place. From Wednesday to Saturday, this is a very lively place at night until the wee hours of the morning. Lots of cafes and bars and dance places in the streets nearby. On these nights things don't quiet down until at 3 am if not later. Of course, this makes mornings quite peaceful. The hotel was fine, the room was large, the staff kept it clean, not much to complain about. Could have done with a more thorough cleaning of the shower curtain though. And there are no elevators, so if you have a large bag or do not want to climb lots of stairs, get a room on the lower level or at another place.

Great cheap hotel for just sleeping in at nightPosted Jun 12, 2013
Pros: Large and clean room
Cons: A bit far out
Location: A bit far out
For the price I think it was a good deal. It was a large and very clean room but did not have a chair or air conditioning. It was very quiet, which was nice. It is a bit further out than I would like but good value for money.

FloodedPosted Jun 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
7 floors and no elevator. Modern appeal but the plumbing is awful. My entire room flooded after a min shower. Apparently a common issue.

Cheap and Cheerful!Posted May 22, 2013
Pros: Price and how close it was to Paris' city centre
Cons: The location at night was a little intimidating, but we didn't experience any problems.
Location: The location is great for getting around Paris, however at night the area could be intimidating for some tourists as the street is full of clubs.
The Hotel was great, the staff were helpful and friendly and the overall condition of the hotel was good. It is not a hotel for a romantic stay however, the hotel and the rooms are good, but would not be somewhere you would want to spend a lot of time. The hotel is ideal for those out sight seeing, who only want the hotel as a bolt-hole during their visit. Previous comments we read before going had mentioned that the hotel was in a rough area, certainly you wouldn't know this during the day, but we were surprised on the evening just how lively the area became. I travelled with two other ladies, and whilst we are well travelled women, we had to admit that on our own we would have felt intimidated. Certainly although I would recommend the hotel for those visiting Paris wanting somewhere cheap and cheerful, I would not recommend it to a single female. Overall the stay was great, there were no problems in or out of the hotel, and everything was as we had booked it, so we were very satisfied. We spoke pretty good French, so it wasn't a problem, but for those tourists who cannot speak French (even basic), be warned the staff do not speak a lot of English. If you think you can turn up at the hotel and expect them to speak English to you during your stay, you will struggle.

good bad ugly, the reviews you read are true!Posted Mar 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
ohk I read all the reviews before booking the hotel and still booked and found everything to be true! there are some bad things: room is not sound proof, surrounded by bars and CHECK IN IS NOT UNTIL 2P. but if you book here you will still find the hotel to be quite charming and really enjoy your stay! my friend and I are college students and enjoyed the bars and places to eat open late and very close to the hotel. the area is perfect for young people and in walking distance to two metro stations. the staff doesnt speak a lot of english but very willing to try to help you, especially the night staff who were all very friendly to us. besides the noise from outside the hotel is very quiet, except when people are going up or down with their luggage, as there is no elevator (like many parisian places). but please note, I found this hotel when I limited my hotel search to the Bastille district...this hotel is NOT in Bastille. still very conveniently located, but its not bastille. overall very satisfied.

Good by Parisian Economy StandardsPosted Feb 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
Lovely, chic, art-deco-esque abode for myself and my partner to rest our heads. Very good location for young people, up and coming North-Eastern Paris.
