Lovely setting shame about the restaurant.

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: The setting and convenient access to ports.
Cons: Restaurant staff would benefit from professional training
We were staying in one of the 'cottages' (former stable block?) The room was spacious and good value for the price paid but one had to negotiate two doors and a staircase to gain access. Cars were not admitted to the yard so one had to carry cases over uneven cobbles. Room was sparsely if interestingly decorated and the light coloured carpet was stained and would have benefited from a professional clean. Restaurant was disappointing. Waiting staff were intrusive and briskly curt. Choices were limited, portion size small and although time had been spent on presentation, the array of vegetables was identical on all dishes viewed. Dishes sampled lacked seasoning. No cheese trolley was available so cheese course was presented on the plate, three small portions of uninspiring cheese, a little puree and small fruits. Wine expensive. Meal not good value for money. We were looking for a base for our company meetings in northern France. This will not be it.

Village location in private grounds

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Period charm, authentic quality of the rooms and common areas and the location. The dinner & breakfast area is in a large octagonal 'orangery'.
Cons: Rooms need air conditioning
Location: This was used as an overnight stop only
The approach along the driveway to the chateua is impressive and unexpected. The chateau itself has lots of period character and is set in very well maintained and large grounds.

Comfortable and quiet in beautiful surroundings.

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: Peace and quiet inold fashioned surroundings if, as wed id, you stay in the main building.
Cons: Breakfast was rather dull.
Location: We stayed there as it was in between Calais and Le Touquet which we love.
As above - very quiet and relaxing - would suit more elderly couples who would enjoy the peace and quiet and nice gardens.

Second visit and still just as good

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: More or less everything
Cons: Getting drinks from the bar can be a protracted experience. It's not full-time manned and relies on the kitchen / restaurant staff noticing you
Location: You have all of Northern France to choose from. You pick
A chateau / hotel a few minutes out of Boulogne sur Mere. Set in a lovely park, with first rate staff and fabulous food. We have stayed in the main house in mid-winter and the cottages in mid-summer. Each equally good in a different way. I suppose the thing to say is that there will almost certainly be a third visit at some point. Highly recommend.

Don't read the hype!

I booked for a one night stay recently, the setting and feel of the hotel is as nice as others say. We were one of 2 English couples staying and both had paid considerably more than any other guest that night. I had booked a superior room but if you're given room 102, I would ask for a change.. Nothing like any of the photos, hugely disappointing but for us as there were no other rooms available so had to accept. Don't expect tea/coffee making facilities , plenty of towel, robes and slippers but not the quality you would expect. I have stayed at other French hotels which have been cheaper and better equipped . That said , although we probably stayed in the lesser of the rooms at the hotel the staff were pleasant and the food from the restaurant good.

Romantic quiet hotel

Posted Jun 8, 2014
Pros: Beautiful grounds quiet relaxing. Building is fantastic.
Cons: Generally fantastic staff bar a slightly grumpy wine waiter. This sounds harsher than is probably deserved but it was a contrast from the other staff
Location: We went for the quiet and peace of the hotel so didn't stay too far but the directions from Reception were good for anything we needed
Love this place and would certainly recommend it to others.

Nice hotel near Calais

Posted May 19, 2014
Enjoyed our visit. V restful. If I was being critical the carpet in our room could do with replacing and the water which was labelled as offered by Navaje hotels was then charged at 3 euros each. Should be priced. Small niggles which would not stop us returning.

Delightful location and convenient for the tunnel.

Posted May 14, 2014
Pros: Large, comfortable rooms with great views over the gardens, very enjoyable meals and pleasant, helpful staff.
We've stayed several times now, mostly in rooms in the main house, although the cottage rooms are equally well equipped. Very friendly welcome by all the staff, good food and service in the restaurant.

Nice hotel set in wonderful gardens

Posted Apr 19, 2014
Great location close to Boulogne. Really comfortable room. Only criticism is no kettle in room and bearing in mind the price the ability to make a cup of tea would have been wonderful or alternatively I would have appreciated complementary tea or coffee
