Very nice, clean updated hotel and room. Staff was also very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was decent and coffee is available all day. Would definitely stay there again!

I've stayed in plenty of hotels at all different price points, and this one stood out enough to actually spend the time to write a review. Bottom line: this is an outstanding hotel. The entire place felt *very* clean and updated. Staff constantly asked if there was anything they could do to improve our stay. Everyone we spoke with at reception was friendly and helpful. If this tier of hotel appeals to you, this is a great choice. We'll definitely be staying here again.

“BETTER THAN EXPECTED”

tHIS HOTEL IS JUST NEWLY BUILT AND IS JUST ABOUT ONE YEAR OLD. I FOUND THE SERVIE AND CONVIENCE TO BE WONDERFUL. THE STAFF AT THE FRONT DESK ARE COURTIOUS AND KNOWLEDGABLE. THEY HAVE WINE TASTING IN THE MAIN EATING AREA AND SERVE FREE BREAKFAST WHICH IS A FULL BREAKFAST JUICE, COFFEE/TEA EGGS, BACON OR SAUSAGE, PANCAKES, CEREAL ETC. JUST A REAL COMFORTABEL PLACE.

My wife and I were visiting family in the area. I had selected this motel based on customer reviews. This turned out to be a great choice! From the minute we arrived at the front desk we were made welcome and had one pleasant experience after another. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. This motel is very clean. Our room was large and well furnished with everything we needed, including a refrigerator, which we immediately stocked with bottled water and other refreshments for our four night stay. We had a room away from the street and had a nice view of a farmhouse and pasture out back. The breakfast bar is well stocked with sausage, bacon, eggs, biscuits, gravy, fresh pastries, fruit and more, including decent coffee! The young lady tending the dining area was very attentive to the diners and did a great job keeping the bar stocked with food. The outdoor pool and hot tub looked very clean and inviting and we really wanted to jump in but just didn't have time. And this motel was so quiet it was like having the whole place to ourselves. Very relaxing. I could have easily stayed here a month! The only thing I could complain about was the poor control of the HVAC. We couldn't get comfortable at night due to the wide temperature swings, no matter where the thermostat was set. We would wake up sweating then the ac would finally kick on and we were soon freezing. Other reviewers have complained about this also. If it wasn't for this issue I'd give this stay 5 stars.

“Gem in Atascadero, Right off the Freeway, Close to Hearst Castle”

We wanted to visit Hearst Castle during our Cali vacation and looked for accommodations in the area. We found locations close to Hearst Castle to be expensive, generally older, with mixed reviews. This Holiday Inn Express came up and fit the bill perfectly. It's only one or two years old, with the Holiday Inn Express value of included full breakfast, pool for my kids, hot tub for the grown ups. The room was roomy, with 10 foot high ceilings, very comfortable bedding and a 42" flat screen TV. The included fridge made our road trip stop much more pleasant. Other family road trip amenities that add value : Coin Operated Washer and Dryer ($1 per wash, $1 per hour of dryer time, so it's good value) Jack In the Box within walking distance (100 yards). Hotel is just off the freeway exit and very easy to see and locate. My son said it best, "Dad, this is the best hotel I've ever stayed in !"
