38 storied hotel, All rooms overlooking beach

Posted Mar 3, 2014
Pros: All rooms have sea view. Breakfast is good.
Cons: Air conditioners, door latches, service, chairs in balcony
Location: Jomtien beach, massages , night bazar, some restaurents.
Well you enter the grand entrance of the hotel and you are given a coupon for welcome drink which you will be served on the 38th floor! you go to the 38th floor at say 4:30pm, show the coupon and the staff tells you that the place opens at 6 pm! Is that supposed to be 'welcome'? Anyway, a nice bubbling apple cider with a cherry in a champagne flute cools you down and you enjoy the panoramic view of the blue sea. We admired the crescent design of the hotel which has all rooms facing the sea. Your admiration jolts when the latch takes long to open. When it does, you fear being locked in or out looking at the loose fittings and jetting out screws. You find the room clean, with a nice kitchenette and clean bathroom with basic standard fixtures. A semicircular balcony invites you which overlooks the sea. Wow! You want to sit in the balcony and enjoy the breeze and view! You do get the breeze and view- but not a single chair in the balcony. You want to rest for a while and the old aircon makes more noise than a chopper taking off! And with no cooling. You inform the reception, are assured of the service and no one comes to attend! You get used to hand folding welcomes and warm smiles in Thailand, which is suddenly missing in this hotel. It may be the result of high work pressure on the staff. They look ( and are) so busy that they have no time for pleasantries . We were told that this is one of the best hotels in Pattaya. The others may be even worse, perhaps!

$$ Not worth the price $$

Our room was outdated and in need of a make over. Maybe instead of upgrading the lobby and outside areas they should concentrate more on the rooms instead.

Too far...to old...too dirty

Posted Dec 15, 2013 on Hotels.com
This beach really is a mess.filthy, dirty and no public transport.lots of taxis who just want to steal from you. Far away from everything, even this city.s center.only russians, noisy and drunk. A terrible place and a dated and old hitel.the view was good, breakfast was excellent but furniture,tv and guests were from 1000 years ago.a hostal is better in europe than this.thai staff very friendly andtried its best but no way to resuscitaye a dad mammoth. Nice view.

value priced hotel in Jomtien Beach

Posted Jun 24, 2013
Pros: Halong Bai restaurant food, sea view and gym on the premises.
Cons: Staff performance in the breakfast area.Room condition
The sea view from the deluxe room is very good. The room condition needs improvement for the 4 star rating. Breakfast is good but few staff to serve too many guests and need to be organised better.Location is ideal to beach, transportation and other activities.Tip: The old name is Furama Hotel, just changed to D Varee, ask taxi for Furama if new name is not known to the taxi driver.

Relaxing and Great Hospitality

Posted Jun 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
It was one of my best stay in any hotel so far within India or outside India. The hotel is located on a quite Jomtien Beach. Wonderful sea view from hotel room, small n cozy balcony to sit and relax with beach and city view both. Hotel staff from reception to cafeteria all were polite and showed great hospitality. We checked into hotel at 11 pm and to our surprise the reception staff was already prepared with our booking and room allocation. The check in and checkout both were fast enough. Excellent variety of non-vegetarian food during buffet. Would be happy if they provide some Indian menu as well in their buffet. Overall very much satisfied with their arrangement and all.

It was ok

Posted Mar 24, 2013
Pros: The food.
Cons: Taxi drivers trying to take advantage of us.
Location: Great location. Lots to do around the hotel.
Pros: The breakfast buffet was excellent. The service was great. The room was very clean. The views were amazing. Right on the beach. Cons: The hotel room itself was very expensive. The restaurant was expensive. The manager would not help us out when the cab drivers affiliated with the hotel wanted to charge us more than twice the price for a taxi to the airport. (The price was listed and they still wanted to charge us more than twice!!!) My mattress was broken.

Nice amenities but rooms need urgent renovation!

Posted Feb 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
As compared to Pattay Central which has all the big shopping centres, Tiffany and many other attraction including the notorious Walking Street, this hotel location is more suitable for families with yound children and lovers on romantic getaway. Hotel-wise, the amenities are good such as the reception, swimming pools and etc. However, rooms on the lower floors really need urgent renovation badly. The very first sight of the room door really puts one off. it is so old and worn out. Moreover, the card key system does not function well. Room 1006 bath tub was cracked at the bottom. Plus points are the nice sea view and flip flops are provided. Housekeeping service is quite good and prompt. Reception service is quite cold and unfriendly. Breakfast is good with wide spread. Have to have own transport in order to move around.
