Nice bedroom, shame about the bathroom and some ofPosted Dec 4, 2013
Pros: Big rooms, sea views, quiet location
Cons: A better approach to customer relations ( see above)
Location: Centrally located in Jomtien. eat, drink, sit on beach.
I don't know why this hotel is named after the famous British bard, as there is absolutely nothing British about it at all. Perhaps a more appropriate name would be Dostoyevsky or Solzhenitsyin. The hotel is old, but my bedroom was reasonably appointed. The bathroom, however was in need of a complete replacement. My WC would not flush because the isolating valve had been turned off. That was because when it was on the bathroom would flood. This was absolutely ridiculous, and although I reported the problem, nothing was done. This hotel has both Thai and non-Thai staff. I found the attitude towards customer service from the Thai staff to be good, but that from the non-Thai left a lot to be desired. Also although the hotel has a restaurant, breakfast is taken in a different hotel in a different street (not far away) and guests are given no choice of what to eat. What was offered was sometime very odd: e.g. macaroni; for breakfast?
Everything was ok, but quite noisy at night.Posted Dec 1, 2013
Staff and rooms are ok, but there are many restaurants around and at night it's very noisy till 2 am. Sea is close, location convenient.

Value for money!Posted Aug 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
This is a budget hotel worth your money. Don't expect too much. The beds and toilet really need a good maintenance. The location is excellent. It's just 20mts from Jomtien beach.

Cons: Room, Food, Ambiance, Lighting, Washroom, Service, Comfort
Location: Close to Jomtien but away from main action
Very Very Very Bad Experience. NO LIFTS. Room was stinking may be due to wet wood...But the worst part was that the washroom was untidy. Poor lighting in rooms and stay prepared for some small bugs here and there. Internet connection was good to my surprise. Breakfast limited (Not Satisfactory - Poor)

Excellent location right next to the seaPosted Jun 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
Positives: 1. The best thing about hotel Shakespeare was its location - 2 minutes walk from the sea. 2. The room was very clean. Negatives: 1. Room didn't have a phone so every time we had to run down to the reception. 2. Bathroom fixtures were very old and not in proper working condition. 3. Since the tariff included breakfast, there should be more variety (rather than just bread toast, butter & omelette) like juices, muffins etc. 4. Even the hot water flask kept in the dining area wasn't in working condition.

Location: On the beach... so fantastic
This hotel is fantastic not because of the type of amenities but owing to its location... I liked the breakfast as well... all in all a 4 on 5.. Would highly recommend it... Also would choose it if I am going there again

Cheap, clean, good locationPosted May 16, 2013
We stayed two nights here. when we arrived we were told they have two buildings and we were booked in at the other one which is a 5 min walk away, which we didn't mind. The location is good, really close to the beach and our room had a view of it from the little balcony. The room was quite big and clean and air con worked well. But there was an awful sewerage smell in the bathroom, we think it was coming from the sink. And on our first night we were kept awake by some loud machinery/pump of some sort. We looked outside our door and realised it was coming from a utility room right next door to us. So I guess if you weren't near that ( we were on the fifth floor, could probably hear it on the fourth too) you would be fine. Bed was hard, like a lot of beds in Thailand! But breakfast was nice and the staff were really lovely. And for the price we didn't feel hard done by. The location made up for the bad things really. Also lots of good cheap places to eat nearby, much better than Pattayas main beach! So if you want a cheap clean place close to the beach then it is fine.
