Oasis in West Texas

Posted Jul 2, 2015
Location: Balmorhea State Park with the world's largest spring-fed swimming pool is only a few miles from Pecos and a great place to spend the day.
We were pleasantly surprised to find this older hotel updated and very clean. The pool was clean and well maintained. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent at the Alpine Restaurant connected to the hotel.

Unnecessary inconvenience

Posted Jun 24, 2015
Cons: It would be great if the staff was competent and the carpet wasn't so dirty.
Carpet was dirty and sticky. Receptionists did not know how to do their jobs. 2nd day there, could not get into room because the key had "expired" and after going back and forth to the office the 3rd time, 30 minutes in 100+ degree heat, can finally get into the room AFTER the maintenance guy goes over to explain to the receptionist that she needed to register the key correctly. At check out, that receptionist stated that Expedia had rejected the reservation. Since she had the credit card on file for a pet fee, she charged the card. It took 20 minutes of explaining that if there was an issue with Expedia and the reservation, it was between the hotel and Expedia, and between Expedia and me. I had to hit the road and so I gave up. Charges were eventually reversed but it was unnecessary to be charged in the first place. Isn't the point of using Expedia to avoid this overcharging and hassle?? This hotel is not the only one in town so skip to the next one and find a place with competent staff.

Nice Hotel and Great Buffet

Posted Jun 19, 2015
Pros: Above
Cons: Not applicable
This hotel was a great find! We arrived late so we did not interact with the staff much, but they were nice. The breakfast buffet at this hotel is the BEST we have ever seen!

Trevlig personal, Good old Texas

Okay hotel in Pecos

Posted Apr 27, 2015
This is an older hotel, but the room was clean and reasonably comfortable. Could use a new mattress - sagged a little in the middle. Room could be spiffed up with new paint, but for an overnight it was more than serviceable. Best thing was the breakfast buffet in the morning - real eggs with peppers, tomatoes and onions, homemade salsa, fresh fruit, flaky pastries, and more. Made for an excellent start for our day of travelling.

Old hotel forced to book another night due to ice

Posted Jan 3, 2015
Pros: The breakfast and staff
Cons: Spend some money on the rooms.
Location: No idea the town was closed down due to storms
Iced in with a storm and had to pay way to much money for the quality of this room.

Best Western Alpine Inn Restaurant

Posted Dec 12, 2014
This restaurant provided us with the worse service and meal that we ever had. It took three tries to order a nice red wine which was served ice cold. My roast beef dip tasted like they did not have any cattle in Texas. It was like show leather however the fries and gravy were good. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak which was tasteless and atrocious. However breakfast the following morning was good.
