good hotel away from the tourist hordesPosted Aug 28, 2014
Pros: Excellent position in the mountains between Lakes Como and Lugano.
Location: Excellent walking in the mountains. Easy access to north western Italian lakes. Comfortable drive from Milan Malpensa airport (about 90mins)
A few days away in the Italian Lakes without children Good, clean, well run hotel Staff were extremely helpful Wonderful restaurant though could not have eaten there every night. Fine food and good wines Excellent position in the mountains between Lakes Como and Lugano. Lakes easily accessible but location of hotel allowed one to escape the hordes and the busy road round the lakes Peaceful with good walking within easy reack

Be careful, this hotel is not good for ANY touristPosted Jul 4, 2014
Pros: Everything except location
Cons: Perhaps give information to visitors who are coming from Lugano side that the road is quite crazy
Location: The location is good for the view, but very bad for everything else.
I couldn't fault the hotel. The staff were super great, the rooms were spacious and clean. The view was amazing and the breakfast was really good. My overall experience was great. However, the location is not good if you are a regular tourist, especially if you are coming from the Swiss side (Lugano). The hotel is located on top of a crazy mountain, really bad road, one of the the worst I have ever seen in Europe yet. Moreover, if you go up, there isn't much around but your hotel, you'd need to go all the way down to see places like COMO and Lugano and the road is really not good.

Superb, quiet hotel.Posted May 25, 2014
Pros: The quietness and the staff
Location: Scary, bendy mountain road to get to hotel.
Need a car to get there. Lovely place to stay. Staff very friendly and English speaking. Nothing was too much trouble. Bedding and towels changed every day.

Very good Michelin star restaurant and beautiful park area around hotel. Golfing less than a kilometer away.

La Locanda del Notia was a lovely place to stay - in the countryside and rustic in style but comfortable and clean. Lovely boutique hotel feel. The drive to get there, up very twisty mountain roads, is not for the faintheared if arriving after dark, but the views on the way down again are well worth it.

A beautiful place to stay! Tastefully decorated and fantastic surroundings. The personel was charming and most welcoming. Will highly recommend the restaurant where the food and service is second to none.

Beautiful inn in Italian alpsPosted Nov 8, 2009
When we arrived, a roaring fire greeted us in the lobby. The inn has been updated and the quality of the rooms was wonderful. The service was very helpful and professional. The views of the mountains and the sculptures in the yard were lovely. The food at breakfast and in the restaurant was amazing. I had one the best meals of my life here. They host weddings here and I hope that my daughter lets me have hers here. It was simply outstanding. You will need a car to get here, though. It is high in the mountains.

Lovely mountain hotelPosted Sep 10, 2009 on Hotels.com
Lovely location, excellent food although quite expensive and the portions are rather small. This is a cracking little hotel that I would compare to a 3* country house hotel in the UK. There are no great lake views or anything but the large gardens are immaculate and the arae is up in the hills and srrounded by lush green countryside and the staff are very helpful. The buffet breakfast was very good and the staff were so friendly.

Absolutely FabulousPosted Sep 8, 2009 on Hotels.com
This is the perfect retreat for those that want to relax and enjoy the best of everything. The hospitality of all the people running the hotel and their staff is superb. The food is better than I have ever experienced in Italy. You cannot fail to be impressed with this fine hotel.
