Poor choice

Posted Aug 16, 2014
By US standards this hotel was far below par. Bathrooms had mold in every crevice, dirty towels, no internet connections and poorly trained staff. The beach was dirty and water was murky. Overall a bad experience if you are looking for a beach resort holiday

Pros: The reception was very modern and fresh pity the rest of the place did not look like that
Cons: Upgrade the rooms to a better standard
Location: Not much to do in the area a couple of restaurants across the street which were nice
Rooms need to be done up very basic and the beds rock hard breakfast buffet there was a lot to choose from but everything was cold only went twice out of the 8 days location was miles away from most things taxis needed every time we went out lifts were a nightmare only 3 for the whole hotel and one is out of order

The stay was OK and it's very close to the beach.

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Near to Batu Ferringhi and Georgetown
Cons: Housekeeping, breakfast buffet and elevator.
Overall stay is quite disappointing. Not much food selection during breakfast buffet. Late room service (only came at 5pm when I was going out for dinner). Trash and in-room dining trays were not picked up until late evening. Hotel elevators are slow and creaky. Still a good place to stay especially if you like to do activities by the beach.

Clean hotel, close to the beach, but expensive.

Posted Aug 3, 2014
Pros: Very clean and close to the beach.
Cons: More seats/tables for all guests at breakfast. Drinks and food too expensive (in comparison with other hotels) Fully working and modernised lifts.
Location: Short taxi ride away from Georgetown to see the street art, Sleeping Buddha and lovely cafe bars. Abundance of watersports on the beach outside Hotel.
We enjoyed our stay at the Flamingo and chose it because of the price and the fact that the online photos looked good. However, a few key points let the hotel down and these are the reasons we would probably not choose to stay there again: Firstly, we were on the 13th floor and there are 3 lifts , however 1 was always out of use and the other 2 were so crowded and slow that it always took around 15 minutes plus to get to or from our room. Secondly, the breakfast seating area/restaurant was nowhere near big enough to accomodate all the guests resulting in big queues for a table to be vacated at breakfast time. Finally, the drinks at the hotel were very expensive, (even when comparing them to one of the high end, well known hotels in the same area) eg a small glass of beer was 3 times more expensive than at the restaurant opposite the hotel. However, on the plus side, the hotel was kept very clean, the food was good (but again quite expensive) and the service was mostly good. Our room had a lovely view of both the sea and the hill, however when we asked for 2 chairs for our balcony we were told that they weren't provided with Hill View Rooms (which was what we had booked, though we hadn't been told we would not have chairs, something we take as a given) We thought this detracted from our enjoyment of our room, but the receptionist was adamant that we couldn't be given 2 chairs?!?! The pool area was very nice and clean and led directly to the beach, and one of the best points.

nice location, near beach but need improvement

Posted Jun 16, 2014
Cons: lift and parking services, food for breakfast at the hotel cafe, staff assistance
Location: batu feringghi beach, toy museum and butterfly park at Teluk Bahang, good for Durian lovers at Balik Pulau, Gurney Drive
Though the location strategic, but the hotel facilities e.g parking and lift are terrible. It took us more than 15 minutes waiting for the lift and it is always full. The lift is super duper slow. Parking space is limited and we parked our car at the side parking which is risky.

Beach Hotel yet not too far from town

Posted Jun 4, 2014
Pros: It's location - beach hotel but not too far from town. Shuttle service available.
Cons: Lobby lounge not Aircon and in hot months very stuffy now that they have enclosed the service counters. A live band at night would be good!
Location: Take shuttle to night market or to Straits Key.
We were given interconnecting rooms overlooking the sea!
