I like the vied from the balcony.Posted Mar 13, 2015
Pros: I love the breakfast over there.
The staff over there seems not really friendly enough. Are they too tired?

Celebrated 50th birthdays. Loved spending time by the pool and relaxing. Not very busy (approx 60% occupancy) so had a lot of room. Rooms were clean and spacious (executive rooms) with great views. Bed was comfortable and drinking water was provided, although water from the hotel is supposedly safe to drink. Walking along the night markets we found a few bargains and there are plenty of lovely places to eat not far from the hotel - The Ship and Marios to name a few.

value for moneyPosted Mar 8, 2015 on Hotels
At a convenient location with many shops and food stalls nearby. Got a free shuttle in to George Town. My daughter enjoyed the Adventure Zone. Don't expect hotels in Penang are in par with those in Thailand in terms of value for money. It is a value for money family resort compared to others. The swimming pool is lovely. l

Hôtel sympa, environnement animé. La chambre et salle de bain sont un peu moyen. Bon restaurant d'hotel

Fabulous family escapePosted Mar 1, 2015
Had a wonderful time at Golden Sands. Facilities were well maintained and the hotel was well-staffed. The pools were fun for the kids as well has having varying depths for different levels of ability. The resort had full occupancy when we were there but didn't feel too crowded. You would have to line up for a table at breakfast however, would recommend going down by 8.30am.

reception lady should be replacedPosted Feb 28, 2015 on Hotels
overall was good, but we were not at all satisfied about the service at the golden circle reception; the reception lady was very cold and was not hepful at all...seems she was tired of serving guest that day...and evertyhing I've requested was answered by a negative answers...this makes the start of the journey quite wrong...

DisappointingPosted Feb 25, 2015 on Hotels
The Lunar New Year holiday must be a peak. Assuming every hotel in Batu Feringgi shall be willing to serve large number of guests. I however wonder how Golden Sands prepared for the peak season. We were puzzled where to line up for check in when arrival. Reception was unavailable (as expected), but where should I stand to wait for check in? Reception staff was super talented, proceeded all the check in process without stopping talking to someone over the phone. 2nd day of Lunar New Year, for breakfast, coffee machine was not working, only the leftover foods were available at 09:30 am, so I only got a fruit juice and a piece of bread. I assume the hotel and F&B managements aware (from the room booking record) how many guest would come for good breakfast. If they were mindful people, they could prepare all necessary resources to satisfy hungry guests. I found they were not. Oh, one more thing, wifi speed (0.82Mbps for download and 0.482Mbps for upload) is definitely not today's standard.
