“I will try to stay here again next year”
I was in town for an annual bike ride (Century Ride of the Centuries) I've been participating in for the last five years. I hadn't planned my trip as well, and found the Rugged Country Lodge, where I'd stayed and enjoyed before, was all booked, so I was eager to find a budget alternative. Early reviews were negative, a flaw in the way these things work.
In short: it was a nice place and I'll try to stay here for next year's CRoC.
Front desk staff were courteous and helpful in providing directions to Hamley's for dinner.
Location: the motel is between Court and Dorion, the main east-west roads through downtown. It's only three blocks to downtown, though some of Pendleton's sidewalks are a bit of a construction mess right now. After dinner, I strolled around town looking at the beautiful murals. Road noise wasn't a problem. (First, this is Pendleton, not Baltimore; second, I was running the A/C "fan" to keep air circulation going.) The front parking lot is configured oddly, but there was plenty available in back, too.
Room: Very clean and goodly space for me and the bike. I *really* appreciated the mini-fridge to keep all of my cycling elixirs cold. Unexpectedly nice was the availability of power outlets -- five on the desk, two by the bed -- I could use my laptop anywhere in the room. The wireless was pretty reliable. Air conditioning was *excellent*. As I do everywhere, I ran the fan at night to filter out noise from the fridge (clicking on and off) and other visitors.
