“Great hotel but rooms need updating”

Ive stayed at this hotel before. It's pretty good but depends on which rooms you get: some are updated, clean and bright and modern, others are in need of work. This time I ended up with one of the older rooms: It took a mighty shove to push open the door, there was a problem with the tub drain, the AC/heating fan did not work but instead emitted a hum, and the wallpaper sorely needed updating and was pealing in a few sections. And the bathroom light was flickering and swirling. In all fairness did any of these things make my stay a nightmare? No. Did I manage to have an enjoyable time during my stay? yes. But the hotel should do a better job in renovating and keeping these rooms up to date.

“Room was outdated but comfortable”

I only spent one night. Room and bed was comfortable. The decor especially the restroom was outdated but clean. The morning breakfast was quite elaborate. Overal had a comfortable night but I thought it was overpriced for the quality of the room.

Area recommendations
I do not have enough experience with Peoria to recommend an area to stay.

“Definitely going back again!”

The staff was so polite and helpful from the moment we arrived. the attendant even upgraded our room to a poolside room after she heard our little girl asking were we going swimming. She printed us off a list of restaurants in the area that delivered there and told us about everything about the hotel without us asking. We will definitely stay at the grand hotel again. Some parts of the hotel could stand to be remodeled but the great customer service I received surpassed it all.

“Same OLD, Same OLD”

I stayed here in late August 2011, and still the same in late October 2011. The staff is Great but beds, and all else OLD. The staff is 5 Star but Grand Not So.

“Try another option!”

The mattress were thin and not so comfortable. Paint chipping in the bathroom. the room smelled and so did the elevator. The best part was the location, close to the mall, and the lady at the front desk was very nice.

“Lesser quality, You get what you pay for!”

I knew the place would not be spectacular and I can deal with old carpet and old sinks. But I was expecting cleanliness. We found crackers that were not our under the bed and a used lip gloss that was not ours! GROSS!

“Would not go here again...”

I am extremely dissatisfied with my stay at the "Un"-Grand hotel. If I am paying for a room for the night, I would expect to not have to look at the peeling wallpaper or a portion of the ceiling hanging down. I don't know how anyone could be satisfied bathing in a shower that is stained black on the bottom, or using a toilet that has a broken seat. Please, let's update our decor as well, so we don't feel like we are in the 70's. Maybe, our room would not have smelled musty, if you realized it is now 2011. I would also like to be able to sit in a hot tub, with out my eyes feeling like they are on fire from too many chemicals being in the tub.

“Old but ok”

mattress was worn out and box spring on edge of bed was busted so I felt as if I was falling off the bed all night. The pool was nice and the jacuzzi was excellent, overall not bad!

“Peoria IL Hotel stay”

The hotel was nice and the staff was friendly. The breakfast was good. Bagels were fresh.
