Great staff, great location but disappointing hotePosted Apr 1, 2013
Really wanted to like this place as the staff were fantastic but the room needed upgrading. Shower alternative was poor and not effective. Very uncomfortable beds :(

thoroughly enjoyable-very friendly. we stayed in the lodge and whilst not disatisfied we did think the decor of room was rather jaded and bathroom lacked any ventilation

Overall very good . Excellent service by staff. However, the en-suite facilities require up-dating. although spotless clean. The breakfast was 1st class.

Reasonable value for moneyPosted Jul 17, 2012
Pros: Firendly staff
Cons: No wifi in room
Location: Close to central Pitlochry and a shortish walk to festival theatre
The public areas of this hotel are very comfortable and cared for, most staff were very helpful and friendly (the night receptionist was offhand). The room is old fashioned and not all in good order, but perfectly serviceable. The bed was reasonably comfortable. The breakfast was good, variety, sufficient, but not abundant, it more than filled us up first thing in the morning. Wifi didn't work in the room, only in the lounge near reception. Overall the hotel is not as good as the photos suggest, but is reasonable value for money.

Well located hotel that accepts dogs.Posted Jun 30, 2012
Pros: Accepts dogs and location
My wife and I were planning to spend the weekend in Pitlochry with our two dogs. I booked this hotel last minute and it was one of the few in the area that accepted dogs. The price also seemed reasonable. From the outside the hotel doesn't look the greatest as it has an ugly modern extension built onto a much older building. However, inside everything was fine inside. Check-in was efficient and friendly and the room a good size giving us plenty of room for the dog's bed and bowls. Bed was comfy although the pillows were very firm. The hotel is well located in the south side of town only requiring a short walk into town for dinner (the hotel also provides dinner, but we didn't try it). The Black Spout walk starts on the adjacent street. Breakfast was good.
