Beachside Bliss. Sort of.Posted Jan 24, 2015
We returned to the Rendezvous after 10 years and both times stayed in a 'Club' room. This meant a lovely breakfast daily , we didn't go to the Club Room for evening drinks and canapés though. The views and location are spectacular. Staff were always friendly and helpful. The bed was comfy and we had no trouble finding a car park each time we returned ($15 p/n). I was disappointed with the renovations that have happened since our last stay. There is now a large glass window between the bathroom and the bedroom/living area ( not sure if this is on all levels or just Club levels). There is a 'modesty' blind, however, you can still see right through, especially when the light is on in the bathroom giving little privacy when on the toilet. This also means disturbance to your sleeping partner if you need to get up during the night to use the bathroom due to the light behind the window. I was also disappointed with there not being any chairs on the balcony (there were 10 yrs ago) and the lounge faces the TV not the view so you pay a lot of money for the views but cannot sit and take them in. No hotel clothesline in the bathroom and very small towel racks for the large bath towels also made it hard to dry clothes and towels after being down at the beach. So i guess a few small changes would have made our stay more comfortable and enjoyable and worth the money.

Good location adjacent to beachPosted Jan 14, 2015
Pros: Pool area, proximity to beach.
Cons: Having enough towels, glasses etc in the room when there is more than two people without having to ring reception on arrival. Glasses not clean.
Location: Good location in front of beach. Close to Perth city and public transport. Even went to Margaret River for a day trip.
Good hotel. Lovely pool area although often difficult to get a sun lounge. On arrival in our room disappointing to have to ring reception and have to ask for more glasses, cups and towels as there were more than two of us. Also during our stay had to ring for more towels as not enough replaced. Glasses were not clean even the extra glasses which were brought to our room. Parking expensive at $15 a night. Still enjoyed our stay.

Very ordinaryPosted Jan 11, 2015
Pros: Hotel room was clean and had great views
Cons: The hotel lacked atmosphere and the towels need to be softer
Location: Lots of bars and restaurants close by. Nice beach.
The card failed to open the room door on several occasions. On checking out there was not enough service operators and had a long wait.

Great location and view. Location best in Perth.Posted Jan 8, 2015
Pros: Location. Pool and beach are superb.
Cons: Reception. I tried calling several times to book and there was no answer and they did not book our 3am wake up call or cab as requested.
Location: Shops just across the road and the Sandbar had brilliant food and service.
We have stayed at this hotel many times because of it's excellent location. The reception is bright, large and welcoming. It's not a huge on style but makes up for it with location. The bar staff were excellent - so friendly. Not sure about the choice of carpet and wall tiles though - very 1970's and this was after the update! Baggage staff also really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Food in hotel was excellent. Shame table and chairs have been removed from balcony.

saggy mattress and an excellent restaurantPosted Jan 1, 2015
Cons: New mattress.
The check in process took over half an hour? How? they already had all the information. The door to the balcony was open when we entered the room. It later turned out it was jammed open and couldn't be closed without help from the Handyman (who was excellent). The mattress was visibly sagging and acted as a well during the night - awful. No pool towels available. We had dinner in the Straits Café. The food was exceptional, the service superb. Perfect! Fabulous views.

I wanted a couple of nights over Xmas close to the beach, with a view. Rendezvous offers exactly that. The price was what I expected. The rooms aren't pokey and once I got a comfy chair out the balcony door I found my spot! It is relaxing just sitting and looking at the view. The decor in the lobby is boring though and when you look up at the glass roof, one panel is actually cracked and it's being held together by a piece of ply! The outside is dated and tired. The staff were lovely. Straits looks great compared to the old pines bistro. Overall a good stay. Would definitely come back.
