“Wish we had chosen differently”
It was our first rip to Assisi, and we were visiting in early May before the tourist season got into full swing. We initially liked the quiet location and ease of access, and the view out the window made up for the marginal room. But then we made the short hike to Assisi and immediately wished we had lodged inside the city walls; the village is so full of charm and was very quiet (due to the time of year, I'm sure) and I regretted heeding the advice of other reviewers who warned about the inconvenience. As younger, active people, it would not have bothered us a jot to lug our bags a short way from the parking structures to any of the local hotels; and in fact, it looked as though you could easily navigate a car through the narrow street and pause for unloading outside any one of the village hotels we saw. We plan on returning to this picturesque town, and will try the Hotel Giotto or Subasio.
