“Best Deal in Italy”
This is a new hotel conveniently located to the walled city, although it is a rather long but pleasant walk along a beautiful new red brick road. There is plenty of free parking and a view of the city above. The room and bathroom are both large and clean. We especially enjoyed the fantastic dinner at the on-site restaurant. We were amazed at the the quality and price of the food. By all means do try to eat a meal here. All of the staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating.
“Great family-run hotel”
Villa Elda is a great place to stay if you don't mind being a 5-minute bus ride from old town Assisi. For those who haven't been to Assisi, the old medieval city is divided from the newer part by a few miles, or a 10 minute bus ride. The hotel has two buildings--a newer one-level building and the older multi-story building that you see in its ads. We stayed in the single-story building, which was well furnished and thankfully had a great shower and plenty of hot water, unlike other places we stayed in Rome. The staff speaks English and is really helpful. You can also eat at the restaurant on the grounds, whose food is definitely better than most tourist traps in Assisi.
“Peaceful Rest in a Meadow”
If you don't care to be right in Assisi but down in the green pastures below, this place cannot be beat. I think it's about a mile from the old city walls; this villa has wonderful qualities: great food, wine, views, service, comfortable real Italian rooms, etc. Family-run gem. Our room's window opened up on a green feild with red poppies. I'd stay there again in an instant and recommend it to others.
“Charming villa 1 mile from historic Assisi.”
Villa Elda was lovely. Right on the main road heading into Assisi and only about 1 mile from the historic area. Easy to find. The villa is very charming with rock and wood structure and the room was very comfy in size and well appointed. The bathroom was quite large and well equipped. The resturant was charming and the food was very good and reasonable but not cheap. Breakfast was typical fare and included in the rate. Friendly staff. All in all, a very good choice.

Assisi, Italy: This famous place of pilgrimage is the burial site of St Francis, one of the best loved of all Catholic saints. The ambitious basilica built soon after his death and decorated with superb frescoes by Giotto, Lorenzetti, and Martini has been fully restored after a devastating earthquake in 1997. St Clare, Franciss follower and companion, is buried in a separate church bearing her name.
