Hotel going through renovations, but was otherwise clean and their service was amazing.

“Michigan Summer trip”

Very nice place to stay. The only downside was the beds were the hardest I have ever slept on. We ended up taking the blanket and bedspread of one bed and putting it under the sheet of the other bed to make it softer.

“Nice clean hotel with great pool area”

Helpful front desk. Rooms are small but clean. Water pressure in shower was too low. Breakfast was satisfactory, but some fresh fruit would have been nice. Our stay was in December so maybe there is fresh fruit in the summer. But apples, bananas, or oranges are available in the winter too. Kids enjoyed the pool which is large, clean, and well maintained.

“Decent Stay”

We have stayed at Bay Winds several times over the years. This is a cozy inn that has served our needs well. The atmosphere is a little bit outdated. It is an older inn, so that is to be expected. During this stay we noted that they were in the process of remodeling. Staff was accommodating to our needs. The price was great, the breakfast pretty comparable to others in the area. Overall very satisfied.

“Hotel is fine, mattress not so much”

The hotel was fine, clean and comfortable until you sat or laid on the bed. Mattress was horrendous. We have come to expect uncomforable mattresses but this one topped them all. I just don't understand why nicer hotels can't spend a little more for comfort. We won't be back!

“Not impressed.”

We requested a non-smoking room. The room smelled like smoke, so we went back to the desk. The manager was very defensive saying "all their rooms are non-smoking," and that they "put up signs." They did give us another room. The new room did not smell, but it was beside the vent fans for the swimming pools. They ran all night, and were so loud it was like being on a plane over the engines. There are many other options, we do not recommend this hotel.

“A huge disappointment. Will never return.”

The outside appearance was very appealing. The lobby has beautiful furniture and was most comfortable. We received our key then got our belongings and entered the hall from another entrance and was shocked. The smell was awful....musty and old plaster or glue odor (really hard to describe). The walls were bare and unpainted and the carpet stunk. It turns out it has been in this state since last April. The furniture in our room was very old. A lamp was broken so we were left with one remaining lamp. The mattress was hard. I was told they are working on getting new furniture and will soon be painting and recarpeting. Our room was dark. Very few amenities including no coffee pot. I read a review on this location last June and it appears nothing has changed since then. We made our reservations anyway assuming the renovations would surely be completed after 4 months.
