Bed comfortPosted Sep 18, 2013
The beds need to be a bit more comfortable, ours was likee sleeping on a couch. They could be a bit more forgiving on the body, and the pillows were useless. One night was enough for our backs.

Too much noise.............Posted Sep 16, 2013
Pros: We liked the location and the closeness to downtown Petoskey and and the lakeside.
Cons: As to the quality of the walls I don't know - it's just cheap building material. The beds could be easily exchanged and they definitely should do so.
Location: Petoskey is a small town seaside resort,
This hotel has obviously 'paperwalls', meaning that we could hear our neighbors talk and understand each word although they were talking at a normal volume. Our bed was unbelievably loud, too. Each turn produced a squeaking and moaning noise that even woke us in the middle of the night. It might have been the original bed from the first opening of the Perry Hotel in 1961...................? It's not a cheap hotel and we paid quite a bit for the two nights we stayed there but it was definitely not worth the money. I also would have appreciated to know that they were hosting big weddings on each of the two days that we were there.

Nice Hotel, reasonably pricedPosted Aug 31, 2013
Location: You can't get closer to the downtown shopping/restaurant district.
Had to book a room on short notice, rate was very reasonable for the area. Historical Hotel in very good condition, rooms were large and well furnished. The Hotelier is very well known and respected in the area.

Great locationPosted Aug 29, 2013
Pros: The rose garden was a beautiful place to sit, rest, enjoy a drink and watch the beautiful sunsets. The front sitting porch was lovely.
Cons: The place needs to be sound proofed.
Location: Located just off Lake Michigan. Lots of cute shops and great restaurants. Close to parks and bike trails.
The hotel staff was friendly upon arrival. The room while older was clean and decent. However due to the age of the hotel the walls are paper thin. We could hear our neighbors cell phone conversations at all hours of the night and early morning hours. In fact the walls in our room were so thin, we could hear our neighbors snores. This made for 2 uncomfortable nights of sleeping.

Very ComfortablePosted Aug 28, 2013
Pros: I would highly recommend this hotel for adults travelers. Not a lot to do for younger children.
This the place to stay in Petosky if you want to be away from the tourist traffic but near the shops and resturants in town. One block from the downtown shopping district and 3 blocks from the Bay. Rooms are slightly worn but very comfortable. Our room had a private balcony with a view of the Bay.

Great grand dame of a hotel. Charming location.Posted Aug 11, 2013
Pros: Great character. Fantastic location.
Cons: Lobby isn't very charming, compared to the rest of the premises.
Location: Walk along beach area and through town. Quaint restaurants in easy walking distance. We brought children, who enjoyed it. Fun pizza/bar in basement
We thought the Perry was a bargain and look forward to another visit soon! At less than $150, we didn't have high expectations, but were incredibly pleased with the hotel's interiors, exterior (porch) and location (near town/beach). We used this as a one night stopover, but are considering going back with friends for a long weekend!

Resting on it laurelsPosted Jul 28, 2013
Pros: The location is very good - convenient to the downtown shops and to the harbor.
Cons: The housekeeping was not up to standard. Our room was in desperate need of a refresh (new mattress and bed skirt) and through cleaning.
We were excited to be staying at the historic Perry Hotel, but except for its great location we were very disappointed. Perhaps our expectations were set too high, but they were dashed from the moment we arrived. When we arrived there were no places to park in the hotel lot. We eventually stopped by the hotel entrance to unload. We asked the front office clerks where we might park and they told us there were several weddings going on and that when we returned later there should be space. However when we returned there were still no spaces and when we inquired at the front desk where we could park they shrugged their shoulders and were no help - we are visitors, the staff are local and should be able to provide this type of information. Our room was fine - there was adequate room and all of the equipment seemed to work. However the housekeeping consisted of only making the bed - our washroom was untouched (the towels were not refolded and the water left in the glass was still there - two days in a row) and the recycle bin was not emptied. The bath tub/shower area had a strong musty (mildew?) odor. On the Monday when we returned at 4:30pm we found that the room had not yet been made up. Also the bed did not have a bedskirt and revealed that the mattress/box spring were being supported by block of wood - perhaps a sign that they needed to be replaced.

Perfect LocationPosted Jul 19, 2013
Pros: Location and history
Cons: The bed seemed a bit 'lumpy' and we were in a two queen as opposed to a one queen, as reserved. One bed would have had more space...
Location: Food, wine, biking, night life...
We were in town for one night, looking to walk and bike every where. Great location and just what we needed.
