Visiting Petra

Posted Jan 8, 2015
Pros: Comfortable and relaxed common areas / lounges.
Cons: Food was okay, but after our previous nights in Amman, we wished that we could experience more of the quality dining we found there.
Location: Fabulous area with Petra the number one attraction of course. Wadi Rum daytrip was easy, and we visiited tje Crusader fortress at Shabak on the return
Very good hotel choice for our three day visit to Petra and Wadi Rum. Beatifully situated overlooking the valley and hills of Petra. Very comfortable lounges, decks and common areas. Highly recommended if you are self driving. Fifteen minutes by car to the Petra gate.

Nice hotel but distant from the Petra ruins

Posted Dec 31, 2014
Pros: Well maintained as expected from an American chain (one reason to chose the hotel). Reasonable rates. Staff friendly & helpful. Good quality breakfast
Cons: Faucet in bathroom was loose although worked well. We had two adjacent rooms but no connecting door. A plus if one has children. No indoor Pool.
Location: Located on a hill with really nice view from the window. Far from Petra ruins and city center. Need a taxi. Fresh water Moses Spring in downtown.
Overall excellent experience. Hotel staff friendly. Arranged Taxi pick up and drop off to airport at very reasonable rates. Driver very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Guide at Petra ruins was also arranged at reasonable rate. Guide was friendly and Spoke English very well. The entire experience was seamless. Highly recommend this hotel if you do not mind staying a little far from Petra ruins.

Stay here when visiting Petra

Posted Nov 20, 2014
At first, I was a little concerned that this Hotel is not in the city but after visiting Petra I am sure we've made the right choice. The Petra archeological site is fantastic but the city that serves it is small and has no charm at all. This hotel is just 8 minutes drive from the park entrance. It has free parking and a very good restaurant and bar. Since it is located high in the hills, it has fantastic views. Watching the sunset there is spectacular. The room (and the hotel) is very clean, new and well decorated. The only complain is that they switched the central air conditioner to winter mode. This way, I could not keep the room as cool as I wanted. The lower I could get was 76 F. The breakfast is very good and if you are the restaurant early in the morning you can the the Sun start to illuminate the mountains around it. Beautiful.

Good option for Petra

Posted Oct 17, 2014 on Hotels.com
During our many trips to Petra with visiting friends (we are currently living in Jordan) we have stayed down near the gate in Wadi Mussa, but on this occasion decided to go with the views of a hotel high up over the town. This was a very good experience. The reception staff were excellent and rooms were lovely. We had a view overlooking the town and the valley, only slightly marred by the unprepossessing view of the messy back of the next door hotel. Room view reminded me of the grand canyon in its colours if not size. We had the bedouin meal on one evening and food and musical accompaniment were very good. There is now a good car park next to the Petra entrance so driving down there in the morning was easy.

The best view in all of Petra--beautiful accommodation I would stay here again next time. The hotel sits on top of a hill overlooking all of the Petra mountains. Amazing sunsets.

Lovely hotel

Posted May 31, 2014
Pros: The location although it was some distance from the site at Petra the views were stunning.
Cons: The pool are was clean and the views amazing but there seemed to be a problem with flies.
Location: Petra was just an amazing experience. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights as we wanted to make the most of our visit.
Lovely hotel, friendly, efficient staff who are all very knowledgeable about the area. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. Good choice at breakfast and the the buffet dinner is good value and offers very good local, as well as European food. The pool side was clean but there seems to be problem with flies. The hotel is located overlooking the city and ruins of Petra. A short taxi ride takes you to the site and town but felt the cost of the taxi was expensive. We would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel in Petra as the standard of accommodation and experience is what you would expect from the Marriott Group.

Beautiful hotel on high overlook with great views.

Posted May 17, 2014
Pros: The rooms were great and the beds very comfortable.
Cons: The restaurant needs to be totally redone.
Location: The location is a far drive from the park and the town. There is nothing else there. This is a trade-off for the magnificent views of the mountains.
We stayed for two nights and were very comfortable. The property is grand and excellently maintained. The restaurant was overpriced and not very good, however. You are better off finding your meals in the town by the park.
