Great locationPosted Jul 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
We were not sure of the hotel reviews but have now found out for ourselves. People very friendly and all facilities ok. Clean towels, etc. in room every day, shower was a little difficult to get the right temperature. Would have liked more variation in the type of food offered over the bar. Hotel location very good for wanting to visit Eastbourne and Sovereign Harbour. Also, we were quite surprised what Pevensey Bay had to offer as we had only driven through before to visit our friends who live locally.

don't goPosted Mar 18, 2013
I was disgusted when I found blood on our bed sheets! The rooms stink the owner stinks, other than the grim breakfast and mouldy bathroom it was chap and the toiletries were good.

SNOWY WEEKENDPosted Jan 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
On arrival we were offered a room that stunk of cigarette smoke. That was soon changed when we complained. I can't put any blame on the hotel staff, the weather was below zero and snowing. when we complained that the room was cold a portable heater was outside our door before we got back to the room. Full marks for that. The breakfast was good The TV you have to take a course in media communication to get it to work. But with patience it is possible.. A cheap Hotel so you get what you pay for, go there with your eyes open and have a sense of humour and you will happy.

yards from the beachPosted May 30, 2012 on Hotels.com
This hotel is also a lively pub. The sheets and towels were spotlessly clean and the staff very friendly. The car park was free which was a bonus.

CheapPosted May 10, 2012 on Hotels.com
So many things didn't work - like heating in room , fan heater in bathroom, hairdryer hose was broken, kettle lead so short you risk scalding yourself unplugging so you can pour. The bed moved about and was horrible cheap mattress, and the carpet had a large bleach mark in the middle. The shower was dirty - I just wonder who does there star accreditation because I'm sure it would have been noticed .Bacon on the first day tasted fishy - so it was either off or kept next to fish. But the staff were pleasant

Just as well the staff were friendlyPosted Apr 22, 2012 on Hotels.com
This hotel is very close to the beach as stated. It was very dated in its' decor and the colour scheme of our room was totally overwhelming. Our double room was too full of furniture so felt very cramped. We were disappointed that neither our TV or hair dryer worked. We chose to eat in for our evening meal and the food was reasonable (despite the frozen veg). The breakfast was also good. We found all staff to be very friendly .

This hotel was like a step back in time. The decor and furniture were very dated and the colour scheme in our room very overpowering. We were disappointed that our TV did not work - apparently due to the digital change over- neither did our hair dryer and the shower was falling off the wall! We chose to eat the pub food and it was reasonable (note that guests who eat in get free drink) despite the frozen veg. Thankfully the staff were very friendly and the breakfast good. It was very close to the beach as stated.

Bay Hotel, Pevensey - Close it!Posted Apr 11, 2012 on Hotels.com
I have never before had the misfortune to stay in such a poor and substandard hotel. The bar is occupied by foul mouthed groups of adults who enjoy thier profanity unchecked by the hotel staff and with rooms that are shockingly discraceful in all respects. Avoid this place at all costs, it's a disgrace to a wonderfull little seaside village where I first went as a child 50 years ago. The shower was disgustingly filthy and unheated. The bed had holes in the divan covering and the matress was so old it was bare springed. The furniture rocked, was broken and the TV (and remote) didn't work properly. The net curtain was smaller than the window and torn, with the dust on top of the cupboards and around the carpet edges a disgrace. On top of all this, the bill was settled remotely ON CHECK IN and not on check out as noted on the website!! Hence no recourse to register disappointment at payment. This 'hotel' charges the same as good places in the village!!!
