“Not the greatest location or food”
My brother booked this hotel for me so that I could be with him while he had surgery at a nearby hospital. The physical plant of the hotel was fine. Walking from the hospital to the hotel at 5 PM, I was accosted by different individuals on three occasions, asking for money. After checking in to the hotel, I went down to the restaurant and ordered a salad for dinner. That evening I developed a severe case of food poisening that lingered for three days into the Thanksgiving holiday. During checkout,, I shared my experience with the desk clerk whose professional response was "Gee, that's too bad".
“Irish Dancers”
The hotel is great, awesome staff, great bar and food. But during the Thanksgiving Weekend they hold a National Irish Dance Competition and the place is jammed with LITTLE KIDS and drunk Irish people! I would stay there again because I know now what's going on. Gotta Love a Marriott!!!
“Expect more”
No television for a day and a half.
“pretty good.”
pretty comfortable, excellent location, really great staff, could use an update on the heating and air systems in rooms.
“Very comfortable hotel in great location”
I've just returned from a 4-night stay at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. The location could not be any better - many sights within walking distance and subway access right outside the door. I did not have much interaction with hotel staff, but the hotel public areas were very nice and our room was as well. The furnishings were modern, the beds/pillows/comforters are very comfortable, and our room was cleaned satisfactorily each day. I read some unattractive reviews online about bedbugs before staying at the Marriott and spoke to the General Mgr. directly about it. He assured me that the hotel did not have bedbugs and, indeed, I did not encounter any. It was a very pleasant stay.
“nice location”
very easy access to train and subway, lots of good restaurants within a 5 min walk. The hotel is good overall
“Philly centered itself around this hotel!!”
We found the hotel better than expected. From early check in until we picked up our luggage from storage the day we left, we were treated very well by all the staff and even the lady cleaning rooms as we passed her several times each of the four days we were there. She always smiled and spoke. This hotel is ideally located in the middle of town and connections by train, bus and trolly were easily accessable. Thanks for the directions (To Geno's and Pat's) and the comfortable stay while we checked out U Penn and Temple.
“Excellent hotel in an excellent location”
I like the location and the quality of the hotel.
“Recently refreshed decor, a great hotel for families or for business.”
This was our first time staying at this Marriott, having been to the restaurant and the meeting rooms before. We chose it for this trip for the location, high quality, and the availability of a pool. Located near the Reading Terminal Market and City Hall, it's a short walk to the historic Independence Mall, Rittenhouse Square, and great restaurants and shopping. The Philadelphia Museum of Art and other the museums on the parkway are a short Phlash bus away. On this trip we had two meals in the restaurant downstairs, Thirteen, and were pleased both times. The service and cleanliness were very good throughout the hotel.
