Convenient, but needs some TLC

Posted Apr 6, 2015
Pros: Right on Temple campus so we were close to our son!
Staying on Temple campus was a big plus, but the Conwell rooms are run down. Curtains not closing and one set falling off rods, TV reception was really bad, and free wifi was super slow. The furniture, bed, and paint was just so worn. I would say again for the convenience, but not the ambiance!

Nice hotel in the middle of Temple University. Lo

Posted Apr 4, 2015
Pros: Very comfortable and the staff treated you like family.
Location: There was a coffee shop attached to hotel and a large line of restaurants and food places. Because you are in the center of campus it was easy acces
Loved the location and parking. Staff was very friendly and helpful; the rooms were large and very clean. I liked being in the center of campus and able to leave my car parked and walk everywhere. It was very quiet and I checked in late . The campus police based right next door to the hotel, but campus felt very safe to me.

Perfect place to visit Temple U

Posted Apr 3, 2015
The Conwell Inn isn't just near campus or on the edge of campus, it is in the HEART of Temple University. Easily accessable by subway and commuter rail, this place is very affordable and comfortable. While there are some signs of age, as you would expect from any older property, they have done a good job of maintaining this little gem. Loved the free cookies every afternoon and free coffee and tea always in the lobby. Plenty of affordable dining nearby. (Try something different at one of the numerous food trucks on campus.) I particularly liked the iron-framed bed and the separate living room & bedroom. It felt unique and quaint. All staff members were very friendly.

Old-fashion place, right on the Temple campus.

Posted Mar 9, 2015
Small hotel. Old-fashion place, right on the Temple campus. Good size room, furniture, carpet a bit old, but not bad. Basic TV service. Little (none?) parking next to the place, have to walk from street, but was able to find street parking easy enough. I'd say if you like non-chains, ok with less than modern, and want to be on the campus then this place is great. Staff was fine. I liked it. Not their fault idiots were running up and down the hallways at night talking very loud :-(

Pros: Convenience
Cons: The quality of the television.
Location: Everything Temple University
On a cold day it is imperative to reserve a parking space at the Inn.

Friendly Staff / Clean & Comfortable

Posted Dec 19, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed for one night while visiting a disabled family member who lives in the neighborhood. The Stone Gate Inn was fabulous. The front desk person was warm, friendly and accommodating (esp. when we arrived early to check-in). Our room was lovely and we appreciated how clean and comfortable it was. We would stay here again - and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Good hotel for weenkend visit

Posted Dec 17, 2014
Pros: Location and price
Cons: Bathroom was definitely not cleaned very well before we got there.
Location: Right on Temple's campus. Coffee shop directly connected next door.
I would recommend this hotel to any family members wanting to visit their children or sibling that goes to Temple. It is right on campus and next to campus police. My boyfriend and I went to visit my brother who goes there and not wanting to stay at his apartment this hotel seemed like a good option. Not expensive and right in the middle of campus. Staff was pleasant and check out not until 12-1. Room was spacious and beds comfortable.

On Temple's Campus!

Posted Dec 13, 2014
Cons: Furnishings are older and show wear, still the care by the staff shows and is clean!
Location: Temple campus, Tyler School of Art, Laconius (sp?) center, Easy access to subway, SEPTA etc. Old City, South St, Historic Philadelphia
Location, location, location!! My 3rd stay at the Conwell. I have seen my share of great hotels and my share of hideous hotels, the Conwell stands out as near perfect. It is very clean, safe and is in the perfect place for parents, educators and potential students to Temple and Tyler School of Art. While very small, I believe it has around 20 rooms, It offers an excellent alternative to chains at a reasonable price. Students work the desk and in the hotel. Rooms are generally average sized, comfortable beds, I've been in 3 rooms, all had 2 beds, (Yes, my daughter crashed in the room for the night for a quiet break from the dorms) and the hotel is at the center of campus activity.

Great Location

Hotel was fine. It's nice. It's expensive, but you stay for the convenience. Don't think there is another hotel within a couple miles of Temple U.
