enjoyable stay

Posted Jan 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
bathroom ceiling too low for my 6'2" husband to stand fully upright. mirror too low for 5'6" me. hole in bedsheet but clean.. no elevator (not a good place for people with mobility issues) No room safes (a gym locker is available) But....great location, helpful staff, nicely prepared breakfast, beautiful wood carvings, Art Deco, close to river side. We enjoyed the room and our stay

Good Location but awful staff

Posted Oct 8, 2012 on Hotels.com
Hotel is in a great location for getting to all the tourist attractions (including places where locals frequent). However the hotel staff made this visit very uncomfortable. Staff treated me in a dismissive way! Did not want to acknowledge me or any other hotel guests, seemed to not like tourists very much. Probably for good reasons as many of the travels in Cambodia are awful people; however, everyone is not an illiciate tourist or exploiter and should not be treated as such. My guide met me at the hotel to show me the city and the hotel staff tried to charge me an additional fee because she was a woman and they assumed she was their for inappropriate reasons. The hired guide got into an argument with the staff in Cambodian/Khmai language about it. Apparently the hotel staff just wanted to make a few dollars illegally. The hotel is in a good location but the staff will surely give you some problems, stay at any of the other ones along Street 178 to street 152.
