“Beautiful hotel with good service”

The present owners of this hotel received this legacy of a beautiful historical building which they continue to carry forward very succesfully. The facilities are in an excellent shape and are well maintained. Everything is to very high standards: bed linen, towels, excellent breackfast, very attentive concierge service and overall hotel ambience. Perhaps the only minor disappointment was the restaurant. We had there a dinner once and I was not impressed: the food was good but not great that you would expect for this type of the hotel.

“Love Phnom Penh”

An air-conditioned oasis in the middle of the hot bustling city. Beautiful view from room over inner courtyard with large trees and pool. Concierge and business centre staff very helpful.

“Probably the best in Phnom Penh”

Probably the best choice (although also the most expensive) in Phnom Penh). We did not like the area near the quay, where most of the other hotels are located. Although Raffles is a bit far from most destinations in Phnom Penh (with the exception of Wat Phnom and including the quay, where we went for dinner both nights we were in PP), it's an easy, cheap and kind of fun tuk tuk ride away. The quality of the rooms, the grounds, and the breakfast--plus the peacefulness of the location--easily make up for the inconvenience of the location. There is, of course, some irony about visiting a city whose main tourist attractions (along with the royal palace) are the killing fields and S-21, a site of imprisonment and torture, while staying in a hotel that allows you to avoid legless men and impoverished mothers begging with infants by their sides. At my age (61), I prefer irony to physical discomfort. Others might decide otherwise.

“Luxury hotel in need up updating.”

Not overly sure I would recommend the hotel. I booked the hotel based on the Raffles name of luxury and service. Whilst the service part was exceptional, I believe the rooms need to be updated a bit and the bathrooms to bring them up to a 5 star standard. Otherwise the staff were fantastic, friendly and willing to help and the food was of a very high standard.

“classic”

The entire atmosphere of the place made you think that Somerset Maughm might be waiting at the Elephant Bar to share a drink and a discussion of the British, French and Dutch colonial empires. Everything was perfect. If I ever get back to Cambodia this is the place I will stay.

“Simply the best”

We have stayed at Le Royal many times already, and every time we return to Phnom Phen, we stay only there. The service is impeccable, the hotel is full of history, great location. The most comfortable bed in the landmark rooms, nice bathrooms. Cocktails at the Elephant bar are very delicious and reasonably prices during happy hours. Everything about this hotel is so great! Will come back again for sure.

“Magnificent”

Hotel was wonderful. Every one in the hotel was so kind and courteous. We spent two weeks in Phnom Penh and stayed the first three nights in Raffles. After visiting many different areas in Cambodia we returned to Raffles for the last four nights as well and we enjoyed it so much.
