Pleasant Stay!

Posted Apr 20, 2015
Pros: Water park area, additional pools, access to South Mountain for hiking, comfort of accommodations, ease of check-in, relaxing common area
Cons: Internet service was poor. Wish there had been a microwave and mini-fridge in one-bedroom suite.
Location: South Mountain Park, Desert Botanical Museum, Rawhide Western Town, Phoenix Zoo.
We enjoyed a family vacation at the Arizona Grand in April 2015. We were impressed overall with the resort itself, though we didn't realize how close we'd be to the interstate and airport view (which did, however, make it easy to drive places). The water park was fun and relaxing for kids and adults. Even at full capacity, we never felt like sardines. The grounds were very nice and well kept. Our room was clean and comfortable and staff was friendly. The one-bedroom suite was fine for our family of four (with young kids sleeping on the sofa bed). We thought the resort fee was very high, but we knew what it would be when we booked. Free Wi-Fi was included as part of the fee, but it was shotty at its very best, which made the resort fee sting a little more. The restaurants on-site seemed nice. We did try two of them but pretty much ate off of the resort for the full week because of the really high prices (particularly drink prices). We requested the Mountainside part of the resort because we figured it might be more quiet. It was and had a nice little pool tucked away for when we didn't want to go to the water park.

Pros: The pools and lazy river were great for the kids. We enjoyed them too. Great location, close to things. Also enjoyed the walking trails.
Cons: Food on the property was a little.
Location: Loads of things to do within 20 min )Rawhide) to 3 hours (Grand Canyon)
Wonderful place for a family vacation. We are definably planning on a return trip.

Water park is great; hotel not so much

Posted Apr 16, 2015
Had a great time at the water park, it's definitely worth the stay. The hotel on the other hand feels like it's from the mid 1990s and has a fair amount of deferred maintenance that is visible both inside and out.

Ground level

Fairly quiet despite being by the pool and on ground floor. Wasn't bothered by anyone but was able to get help when needed.

Nice resort especially if u have children.

Everyone extremely helpfull especially front desk. Property was pristine. Only compliant price at snack bar in water park way over priced 11 for corn dog, really. Having to get your bags checked before entering water park was just wrong. Wouldn't let wife bring in apple and orange. Inside bar staff in the rude side.

Super disappointed

Posted Apr 13, 2015
I was lead to believe this was an upscale resort with a really fun water park. To begin with the place is enormous, and packed. Our room was dated, the floor was super disgusting and the sleeper sofa so uncomfortable it was unusable. Also the water park was small, but so packed you had to wait in line in the am to get a place to sit. The wave pool didn't have waves to speak of, and the walk up to the slides was so muddy it was gross. I have early teens, and they didn't even want to go to the water park after the first day. The concierge was useless on helping us find adventures suitable for us. All in all, a bust of a vacation.

A Nice Warm Get Away

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff, well maintained grounds, separate sleeping and living areas.
Cons: Dated furniture and floor coverings, Wi-Fi was inconsistent, Resort Fee was high (considering other resorts I have been to).
Location: The location is easy to get to from the airport and is close to Arizona Mills Mall. About 20 minutes from Chase Stadium if you want to see a ball game
We found a great package (flight and hotel) deal on Expedia that let me and my family get away for a short holiday to Phoenix over Easter Break.

Nice facility but nickel and dime you to death

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: Great for the kids, lots of activities for them.
Cons: The food service at the pool was ridiculous, long lines to order and the prices were outrageous. You can't bring in outside food or drinks. Coffee m
Location: A car is a must. There are several on-cite eating locations but anything else you need to travel to get to so you will need a vehicle.
We checked in and were told that because we made our reservation through expedia we would be charged an additional $47/day to use the pool facilities. We also got a mini bar key which I knew I wouldn't use. We got to the room, which was nice, and saw that the coffee maker was the type you could only brew one cup at a time so you couldn't make your own. My wife and I always stop and get coffee grounds and filters so we can make coffee in the morning, but with this coffee maker that wasn't possible. Then I noticed that there was no microwave in the room. And finally, when I looked around, the mini bar stuff filled the small refrigerator in the room. I call the front desk and asked them to remove the mini bar items so that we could use the refrigerator and they told me that it would be a $15 charge for them to remove the items. That was very disappointing to hear. We also had to call twice at about 5pm to get someone to come to the room to service it. The pool, which was great for the kids, didn't open until 10am. I couldn't figure out why so late as every morning people began lining up at least 40 minutes before to get in and get a chair. Once at the pool we found out we couldn't bring in outside food or drinks. The chicken nachos were $18 and a cheeseburger was $15. Kind of expensive, especially after waiting an hour to order the food.

Rundown and over rated

Posted Apr 13, 2015
The hotel is listed and priced as luxury, but is in desperate need of re-furnishing. It was probably very nice 15 years ago, but is now worn and even dirty. Our room (in the Camelback Suites) had many carpet stains, worn out furniture, holes in the sheets and blankets, mared walls, expired food/drink in the minibar, and an unpleasant odor. It's not the maids, it's the poor condition of the rooms. It needs new paint and furnishings. The outside walk ways and walls are worn and need to be re-done and painted. There was no shuttle to the airport, about 5 miles away. The food was not very good, but the waitstaff was good. The Oasis water park was fine - better than the room. The lobby and grounds are nice. The place is huge. Very disappointing.
