Fabulous

Posted Aug 23, 2014
Beautiful grounds, spacious rooms, helpful staff, fun water slides. My only criticism would be that the restaurants are very pricey. Even so, I would stay here again. It's peaceful and luxurious.

Family Tennis Vacation

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Excellent staff and facility. La Hacienda is one of the best Mexican restaurants we have eaten at. Tennis courts are extremely well maintained. The new management cut a lot of the tennis programs but the on site pro is wonderful. Spa staff is great. They also have a number of workouts available every day

All's well till you check the bill

Posted Aug 18, 2014
At checkout, we noticed we had under 50 dollars charged to our room. When I get online to total up the weekend spending they charged us 562$ to our account in extra fees after the 400 for the weekend that was the original charge. Of course there isn't any way to talk to a live person to dispute anything so we are forced to put a stop payment and file fraud against the scottsdale princess

My husband and I stayed at the Princess Resort for our anniversary. Our room was beautiful, the staff was so friendly and attentive. We had a great time and will stay here again in the future!

Nice Hotel but to big and difficult to navigate

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: The rooms
Cons: Better Signage to navigate thru the property
Location: A lot of Shopping.
We enjoyed our 1 night at this property once we got the room. The property is Huge and very confusing to navigate. also no signage anywhere. We stayed on the Casitas which are like mini apartments. Once isnde there it is fantastic but that is about it. The staff was great; but we wont be staying here again.

Wonderful Resort, rooms could use refurbishing

Posted Aug 6, 2014
Pros: Activities, pool, restaurants, spa.
Cons: Room freshness, new beds, pillows, and bedding.
Location: Very close to all Scottsdale and Carefree/Cave Creek activities. Taliesin West by Frank Lloyd Wright is a must do (go on the Night Lights tour).
We are a family of two adults and two children. This is a wonderful resort for everyone - gorgeous patios and restaurants (La Hacienda's nighttime ambience was wonderful) and great poolside amenities. Staff are pleasant and represent the Fairmont Brand well. Drink and food pricing was reasonable. There is a lot for children as well - fishing derbies, poolside activities, and a Trail Blazers club, so our kids were well entertained. The spa is also fantastic. The only downside to the property - although we upgraded to a casita suite, we could only get two double beds (the room could fit two queen beds if they wanted). The sheeting is also not great - our bed was always short-sheeted at the bottom - no fitted sheets available and no real duvet covers - they used flat sheets for everything so that was quite annoying. Also, unless we had the shower and washroom fans going full tilt, we would come back to a room that smelled sour, which was pretty gross. Not sure why that was, other than the lack of fresh air from sealed windows and the air conditioner running all day and night. We'd stay in the property again but I do hope that the property gets some room updating and that they can figure out the slightly sewage-like smell problem.

Expected More from 5 star

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: The pools were nice and peaceful and clean, it was quiet while we were there.
Cons: Too much walking outdoors to get where we needed to go - the elevators were old and slow, so we mostly took the stairs.
Location: We went down to the Kierland area (about 3 miles away) and there are a lot of restaurants and shopping there.
We were all excited about our sister trip that we do once a year. We got our room and instructions to get there - about 4pm..check in time. There must have been at least 25 workers on our floor in building c. I understand every place needs improving - but why they put us on this floor with all the renovations - when there were hardly any other people around that I could see (all 3 pools only had about 15 people combined). Our T.V. did not work good in our room - the only thing that seemed to come in clear was the guide - if you wanted to buy a movie. When my sister went to make coffee, the little creamer she opened was all curdled. It made her not want coffee at all. When I went to find ice - I looked all over in building c - finally found an ice machine a ways down in building b. I just felt like overall - everything was quite old. It did seem fairly clean, but I had much better experiences in other nearby resorts.

4th of July Weekend

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: The layout was nice
Cons: The staff at the restaurants and if weather changes a planned event have another plan this is Arizona's rain season for goodness sakes 4th of july!
Location: Not much you’re on Scottsdale Road unless you want to take the kids shopping to an outside mall or an exotic car.
It started off great at check in they upgraded our room because we booked two adjoining rooms which they did not have they gave us a suite. Upon check in they gave us a lot of info but one thing they failed to mention was the kid meal pass which we found out about by accident a day later. The cost of meals I thought was outrageous I mean for a buffet per person $38 and that didn't include the drink!! Our bill came up to almost $200 for a buffet. We also noticed the two hostesses on call for the weekend stood at the door biting their nails I mean who wants to see that. The staffs at the grill were really not friendly at all except on guy really nice. The last day we had breakfast steak and eggs the steak was cold and the eggs were colder the home fries soggy the waitress was rude at best. Now for the big one the 4 diamond restaurant. The food was good but the staff I mean horrible it was like someone took their personalities away and manners. They reached over our food several times throughout the meal and were not apologetic about it at all. I would never eat there again the only two people on that staff that had a personality were the Wine Expert and the gentleman that brought out my Halibut.

Great 4th of July weekend experience.

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: We loved all of the fun 4th of July activities for kids! Super fun!
Cons: The outrageous cost of the food and drinks.
Location: Tons of restaurants, shopping, movie theaters, etc. all within a quick 5-10 minute drive. There really isn't anything you can walk to though.
We didn't realize that the type of room wasn't guaranteed when booking with Expedia so when we arrived they had the 4 of us staying in a King bed rollaway. That obviously wasn't going to work. They finally agreed to move us into a 2 double bed room (which is exactly what we booked through Expedia). The entertainment during the 4th was amazing - and so much fun! The only downside was we finally understood how the hotel could get away with charging so little for the rooms - their prices for food and drinks were crazy! Kids smoothies were $10 each. Alcoholic beverages were at least $12 and you couldn't get a salad for less than $18. And - they had security guards at each door that wouldn't let us bring in a cooler with food/beer. Oh well - we would still go back. :)
