“Great place near Phoenix”

One of the 2 hot tubs was not working. Otherwise, not a single complaint. The staff was wonderful and we enjoyed the convenient coffee urns near the front desk each morining. The room was clean and very comfortable.

Area recommendations

Our trip was to visit a sick relative, so we did not do much sight seeing. We were mostly in the area of Val Vista, but in our travels we did not see any bad neighborhoods. The Fiesta Mall near the hotel was nice and there are several well-known restaurants nearby, such as Olive Garden.

What to pack

Even in late October, the days were in the 90's and the evenings were only in the 60's. Our relatives tell us people wear shorts year-round there, so bring some cool comfortable clothes with perhaps a light jacket for the evenings.

“Eco Friendly”

The staff throughout the property were extremely curtious and helpful. Check in was painless. Questions asked were answered regarding the cleaning supplies. It is nice to stay in a hotel that does not use toxic cleaning products. We were able to check out the room prior to checking in. The negative of the hotel was the bathroom. The shower or shower curtain failed to keep the water in the shower, a puddle of water formed at the point one would step out of the shower soaking the bath mat. The other issue was the toilet. The valve would get stuck in the open position causing a continuous running of water. It took two or three usages to realize the what the cause was and how to rectify the matter.

Area recommendations

Mesa - Gilbert - Chandler This location is an ideal spot for getting around the area. Quick access to the freeway.

When to go

August is a good time, even though it is the monsson season. Pricing is a very good reason to travel to the Phoenix area.

“Get Away”

We just wanted to get away for the weekend and took advantage of the great summer specials.

“Not impressed”

The atrium lobby made for a very noisy experience, particularly on Saturday night. Even though we booked the room for 4 people and repeatedly asked for more towels, we could only get 2 at a time which is rediculous! The bathroom was tiny and antiquated with no dressing table at all. The surrounding area has been hit by the economy and looks like a ghost town with entire malls closed down, although the mall directly across is fine. For the money it was very disappointing and actually less comfortable than a few 2.5 star places I've stayed. I won't go back.

Area recommendations

Not sure, maybe nearer the University and Phoenix Zoo.

Family-friendly activities

The Phoenix Zoo was wonderful and well worth the expense. The aquarium is old, dirty, not well kept up and rediculously over priced!

“Would stay there again.”

“Close to Golfland Splash”

“I would stay somewhere else”

This is one of the first hotels that gave me some grief. First and as soon as I checked in, the room had some stink to it. Then, the pot started leaking - literally...flush it and there's water on the floor - mind you...not from the tank. Yuck! They sent a guy up who would have said 'its all fine and there's nothing to worry'. Lucky me, his boss inspected, said PLEASE MOVE and got us a new room. Then (and mid stay), the swimming pool was out of commission (how often does someone go to a warm place from NY in December hoping to enjoy the pool?). Wouldn't really stay at this place next time.

“Not really satisfied.”

At check in, they said my room was not ready. They asked for my cell number and told me they will call me within 45 minutes when the room was clean. I went to dinner and checked in with the front desk 2 hours later and the room was ready, they never called like they said they would.
