Extremely dated and janky, with horrible lighting and parking situation. Customers have no control over the heating or cooling and take what you get. The most uncomfortable bed with pillows that are thin and beat down complimented by comforters from the 80's. Many other hotels downtown provide validation for parking within a much closer distance. We will not stay here again there are many other options.

Loved the atmosphere, the proximity to our event, the staff was courteous, friendly and helpful. Made us feel welcome without fussing over us. The room was clean and comfortable. Delicious food at Centrico, and we were quickly attended to and served when we shared that we had a pending event with limited window of time. The shrimp tacos were delicious. Later, after the event we had a delicious night nosh at Seamus McCaffrey's Irish Pub one door down—vegetarian Boxty in a cream wine sauce. Fabulous. Only issue was metered parking. We navigated through that—and we will be back again!

We were in town for a Diamondbacks game. Location was great. Staff very friendly. Disappointed in lack of amenities- pool closed, no restaurant or coffee shop on site. Tub without handrails. There is a great donut place across the street.

Great property. Awesome nostalgic memorabilia around the halls. Loved the vibe and the staff is amazing. I left something behind by mistake that is very sentimental and the staff had it sent my way the same day I contacted them. Im so glad I booked . Definitely would stay again.

We came into town for a concert that was a 10 minute walk from the hotel. This hotel was slightly less money than the big chains around it. I recognize that it’s the oldest building in downtown PHX. I work in travel and I understand certain things and try to be reasonable. This by far is one if the worst hotels I face ever stayed in. Here are the reasons: 1. No parking or validation. Okay we made it through 2. No climate control. Okay. Building is old 3. The water pressure was a joke. It would go freezing cold to scolding hot. 4. The beds are literally the worst I have ever experienced. The pillows are bricks and the beds shake if you blink and the springs are in your back. The building is old but come on. At least give us the ability to fall asleep. There is no excuse for that. 5. No pool as it was empty If we were staying any longer than overnight I would have asked for a refund and checked out. I stayed here with my daughters, and the people across the hall from us came home drunk, super late as we are in a college area with a lot of bars and they were absolutely screaming at the top of their lungs and the place is so paperthin that you can hear everything and I called the front desk to check on the room and nothing ever happened as they continue to scream as loud as they could into the early-morning hours. I could not have had a worse experience at this “hotel”.

Thank you for your feedback. Our hotel is 96 years old, and the downtown area was literally built around the hotel over the last 96 years. We put the information regarding the pool and parking on Expedia's website for your review prior to booking so there are no surprises when you arrive. Our hotel is in a lively downtown area, and we cannot control what happens out on the street and are limited with regard to controlling what people do in their rooms. The loud people were told to be quiet, and we offer our apologies if they did not.

We had tickets to a concert at the Footprint Center. Hotel very conveniently located to walk to restaurants and venue. However bed was very uncomfortable and you could hear people talking/coughing in the next room. Was clean but needs updating

I loved the hotel San Carlos it was really neat! It felt like I was in a time capsule, I got a regular room but I do want to come back to stay in the Marilyn Monroe suit! Hehe overall I would rate it a 10/10. I stayed here because it was close to the foot print center (walking distance) & staff was very helpful and friendly. I will come back soon! You should stay here if you want a spooky experience hehe it is one of the oldest haunted hotels! Happy travels all

The hotel was close to Footprint Center so we could walk to our concert. The staff was not very friendly. The hotel was run down & in need of new flooring, beds, etc. It smelled heavily of "pot." The shower was terrible! The water was either ice cold or super hot. No warm.

I enjoyed my stay in the city view room, and it was very quiet and cozy. The location is walkable and close to the metro system. I walked every night and felt safe. Also, the staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, the stay was great! I do think the carpet needs upgraded and better WiFi connectivity.

I know this property is historic, but there were definitely things that needed some sort of upgrade. The bed was so uncomfortable and the pillows were rock hard. The water pressure was sad and the space in the bathroom was extremely minimal. The walls are so thin that we heard everyone get off the elevator and walk down the halls, and then we could hear people in there rooms talking and listening to music all night.

This property has so much charm and nostalgia. The golden stars on the exterior side walks, unique details from the hotels history, very pleasant front desk staff and clean room made my stay very enjoyable. They do not have onsite parking or restaurants but the garage is very close and several restaurants surround their property. Walkable distance to the Convention Center.

Loved our four nights at Hotel San Carlos! Room was comfortable, convenient to downtown historical sights and many breakfast choices. Desk clerk was so welcoming and made our stay better! Our leftover vets were stored since room didn’t have a refrigerator cut that worked fine. Drawback was parking garage a few blocks away.
