Good price for location

Posted Mar 25, 2015
This motel is not fancy, just a pretty clean place to sleep in a great location in Old Town Scottsdale. Pool is nice, hot tub was closed due to someone defecating in it while we were there! But staff very nice, helpful, and price is reasonable and affordable for the location.

Pros: Location, location, location!
The hotel is in a prime location; close to restaurants, nite life etc. Also close to the mall. A short cab ride to spring training games.

Motel with excellent location

Posted Mar 4, 2015
Pros: Basic needs met: clean, beds were comfortable, nice pool area. Acceptable continental breakfast.
Cons: Room needed a small table and chairs. Bathroom was tiny. Our mini frig kept freezing everything.
Location: Location was excellent: lots of nearby restaurants, shopping, and galleries.
We enjoyed our stay. It was a great location for the things we wanted to do. Many restaurants, shopping, parks and entertainment all within walking distance or a short drive. We felt safe even after dark in evening.

Near to Scottdale old town

Posted Mar 3, 2015
Cons: Room, carpets... anything to rid those smells.
Location: Many. Since it is right in the downtown of Scottdales. Many shoppings and food places to go at near distance.
I am not impressed with Howard Johnson. The room has a smell. Was lucky that the room is not located on level 2 but was really not impressed with the amenities. The continental breakfast and coffee were terrible. If budget is a constraint, this place is okay. I would have paid a little more at hamptons or holiday Inn.

easy walk to old town scottsdale art area

Posted Feb 28, 2015
You can walk to the restaurants and the art galleries in old town Scottsdale. Office staff printed my airline boarding pass for me while I was out sightseeing. Room was clean - It looked like it was remodeled a couple of years ago.

The place is a DUMP.

Posted Feb 28, 2015
Pros: Location only, nothing else. Even the pop machines had no pop in them. Stay away.
Cons: Everything. Maybe it needs to be demolished and just start over. It's too old.
Location: The location is central to many things in Scottsdale, but you'd be better off camping then staying there.
Do not stay at this hotel. It has a great location but it is a dump and very dirty room. I cleaned the bathroom door with a white face cloth and I don't think they will ever get it clean. The carpets are filthy and smelly. When we arrived there was a strong sewer smell in the sink. When I called the front desk they were very disinterested. When I finally went to the front desk to get another room because of the smell they said it was not possible as they were full. Someone came and put a plug in the sink (this was their solution). The beds were very uncomfortable. When the maid made the bed she didn't even pull the sheets over. She left the sheets bunched up in the middle of the bed and threw the comforter over it. It was a pathetic attempt at making a bed, and I left her money for doing it??? Like I say it's a dump - STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. If I hadn't prepaid we definitely would have left. I would not house farm animals in that room.

So,so

Posted Feb 27, 2015
Pros: Not much
Cons: New linens would help
Location: No shuttle from airport, but in a good area for shopping and public transit
The rooms looked ok but not to the level of cleanliness I expect. The free breakfast was all the same each and every day...and poor quality overall. Vending machine was broken and hair dryer. It did have some amenities I liked including, small refrigerator, microwave, small coffee pot, and iron. Bedding felt, looked and smelled old to me. Then there was a mix up and my credit card was overcharged $300! Which I found out by going online to my bank. The hotel never told me they were going to do that. I had prepaid through expedia so this was an unauthorized charge! Wouldn't stay here again!
