Fab hotel for families (4 kids, ages 8-3)Posted Nov 29, 2013
We will definitley be back!! From the valet service to the wait staff, our experience was great. We had a few glitches, but mgt. stepped in quickly and made those experiences seem to disappear. We had delicious meals at Stonegrill and Meritage Steakhouse. Both were very family friendly and delicious. Our meal at the Meritage took almost an hour to get to us, which was ridiculous, but the chef came out, apologized and bought us dessert. Nice touch. Our housekeeping was pathetic, which I let go for a couple of days hoping it would get better. It didn't. I finally complained on our last night and it was great for the last 24 hours. The housekeeping didn't pick up anything in our room during or stay. Typically, bathroom items are straightened up, hair dryer is put away, clothes are organized, dirty dishes are removed from the room, etc. None of that was done. She only changed towels and made beds. I even spoke with the maid and asked her to turn down our sofa bed, she didn't. I called for turn down service the 2nd night and was very specific about the sofa, same thing. Had to call again. When I walked into our room on the last night of our stay at 3pm and nothing had even been touched all day, I snapped. The JW is not an inexpensive hotel, so I finally complained. We had been out of the room since 9 that morning. Seriously, no cleaning service at all? After I called, it was fixed before we got back from dinner. If that is the worst of it with 4 kids, I'm fine! Loved our stay!

Pros: The staff...a real differentiator. Facilities also excellent.
Cons: Plain and simple: nothing
Clearly the staff has a genuine interest in providing an extraordinary, hassle-free customer experience; the default answer to any request is "yes". Sumner, Emily P., and Steve went out of their way to welcome and help...couldn't have been nicer. If you're into golf, strong recommendation for a clinic on property with Tommy.

Romantic anniversary weekendPosted Sep 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
We were put in a quiet wing and barely saw another soul near our room. When we wanted to party we went to the madhouse of the pool on Labor Day weekend. It was packed but we still easily found lounge chairs. Food and service at the meritage steakhouse was excellent.

Great getawayPosted Aug 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
Great place to stay. Convenient location. Lots of local restaurants around this hotel. I stayed at JW Marriott in San Antonio before and service at this location was much better. The lazy river was small but fun.

Construction, jack hammers & paint fumes!Posted Jul 23, 2013
Pros: the staff was great and the grounds are beautiful.
Cons: warn travelers when there will be loud and disruptive construction throughout the hotel.
We arrived to celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary, having planned this vacation over 3 months ago and arrived to jack hammers, paint fumes and a lobby in full construction. We were not informed ahead of time or I would've changed my dates. The front desk did not give us any information regarding the construction. For our entire stay, we heard all forms of construction noise for 4 days, even Sunday. There was no comp ungrade or food vouchers offerred. The staff were very friendly and nice, but some compensation should have been offerred. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, but I would've liked some warning ahead of time. As a Marriott rewards member, I was very dissappointed in Marriott!

Marriott Desert RidgePosted Jul 17, 2013
Pros: The lazy river the front desk staff eapecially Ana Marie
Cons: Pumped inner tubes at the lazy river
Location: Great location Desert Ridge mall, Target, movie theater
Was the most relaxing time. Great staff very accommodating Changed our rooms to ensure a better view with no argument. Room service too expensive. Once the weekend was done the floats on the lazy river were not even pumped well, they were soft n pitiful. The iron did not work. Again I would still come back again enjoyed the live band, the ambiance. They even found my lost ball cap n sunglasses & have posted them home.
