long weekend

Posted Nov 24, 2014
Pros: Location & golf facilities
Cons: Most of the staff were enthusiastic & helpful. We just ran into one fellow in the pro shop who wasn't pleasant.
Location: Excellent location to take in the sights & tourist attractions of the area.
The location to downtown Scottsdale was just right. We were able to enjoy all the old town had to offer. We used the golf facilities twice & enjoyed the course, but one fellow in the pro shop needs a course in customer relations. The suite was clean & comfortable. A good deal for budget travellers.

Great central location to all of the places we saw

Posted Nov 21, 2014
Pros: Being located in such a central location to everything we went to Phoenix for.
Cons: Laundry availably
Location: We attended the ROC event at Talking Sticks Field, Goldfield, Fountain Lake, Hiking, Golfing right on the property is awesome!
We did the time share presentation just to see what Shell was about as we're Marriott Deeded Vacation Owners. We knew we'd be saying "no" and the new sales person was "ok". However, our friends who traveled with us had a horrible experience w/your timeshare presenters. The first guy was fine....when they said "no" they had two other people basically "attack" them to get them to change their minds and to prevent them from leaving. What's sad is that they are very interested in buying a timeshare and just wanted to "sleep on it" before making such a huge investment. But due to the behaviors of the sales people, our friends will never, ever buy a Shell/Wydem property ever.

Beware

Posted Nov 20, 2014
Pros: The rooms were amazing. The staff was incredibly accommodating.
Cons: I HATE being sold something when I am on vacation! HATE IT! Inform the guests that they are going to have to sit through a pitch before a key!
Location: Really - in the middle of nowhere. Golf at the resort is terrific!!!!
I booked this hotel through Expedia when I received notification of a recent sale. The hotel is gorgeous! When we arrived, it looked amazing!! Then we arrived at the front desk to be told it would be at least one hour before our room was ready.....it was 3:15pm. We were then told to go to the "welcome desk" where we were promptly informed that they were recently purchased by a company (nameless....) and that we had the "opportunity" to listen to their sales speech about purchasing a condo. When my husband informed them he did not like their new owner - the lady behind us at the front desk told us our room was suddenly now available! We were THEN informed that there is no daily cleaning of the rooms and that a golf cart was available at any time to come and get us from our room. We were no less than a quarter of a mile from our car. (We enjoyed the walk, but people with health concerns or time constraints would loathe this arrangement.) The hotel staff could not have been better. They were all very, very accommodating and more than friendly. I would have liked to have been informed that this is not a traditional hotel experience and had the opportunity to decide instead of finding out upon arrival! If you have a desire to stay in an amazing room on a golf course and do not have time constraints - love sales pitches - this is the place for you.

Great hotel!

Posted Oct 14, 2014
Pros: Everything.
Cons: It is a little far from parking lot to room but it doesn't matter to me.
Location: The location is decent. It's fairly close to shopping center. You can golf everyday.
I was staying at this golf resort on a business trip. The hotel surroundings are nice. You don't even realize this place is in the desert. The golf course was beautiful. One morning, I woke up and ran along the 18-hole course. Felt great! The room is huge. It's like a suite. Everything is super clean and looks new. The accessories provided in the room are new and easy to use. The only maybe disadvantage to some people is the rooms are a little far from the parking lot. It doesn't bother me at all. All in all, this is a great hotel and I will definitely come to stay here again.

Nice location close to downtown

Posted Sep 3, 2014
Pros: Space
Cons: Need more activity around the resort, pool is too far from the rooms.
It was decent, needs more updating. Pool is old and needs resurfacing, rooms is fine but its outdated in comparison to other resort around the area.

Price equates the experience

Its a very nice location but the resort it's self is a bit run down. The pool is in mediocre condition and the golf course could be in better shape. The rooms, while spacious and nice, had a musty smell to them... It was so bad to where I had to go and buy air freshening spray and candles. The resort restaurant closed at 5pm... Way too early. And the time share presentation was extremely unnecessary and unwelcome considering I was there to relax. Parking is subpar at best.... My suggestion is to stay in building 2 if possible. It's not by the pool but if you don't want to walk half a mile to and from parking, it's the best option. Also my suite was no quiet at all.... It was by a housekeeping closet and there was a lot of banging around.
