12 Million Year Old BouldersPosted Sep 27, 2014
Pros: The pools and restaurants were situated among the boulders with access to the facilities around the boulders.
Cons: The staff seemed overly anxious to valet park your car. The pool staff made it clear every day they wanted you up and out by 6:30pm.
Location: Shopping at lots of nearby stores, golfing, of course. Hiking and lots of nature to see. Mnat places for all types of meals.
Even if this hotel was inadequate the experience of staying among these giant boulders was memorable. The hotel experience was elegant but laidback. Lots of golfing going on.

Nice time at The Boulders.Posted Sep 27, 2014
The Boulders is a wonderfully, nice hotel with mountain views of Carefree, AZ. We enjoyed staying here. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The grounds are well-maintained and offered a nice walk for us around the property in the mornings and evenings. We had spa services as well and they were nice. I've visited other spas and we weren't "oohing" and "aahing" over the experience like I might have expected for a 5-star resort but it was nice in there. Nothing negative to report. We planned a couple of activities that were in Sedona and after going there the first day, we realized we probably would have preferred to stay up there because the views were prettier with the red rock mountains and there was more to do in the immediately area. If you're coming to The Boulders to golf and stay on property during your visit, it's a nice stay. If you want to get out and about and do off-property activities during your stay, The Boulders doesn't have too much around it so you'll have to drive a good bit to get to things, so just be aware of that.

Excellent hotel and golf resortPosted Sep 23, 2014
We spent two nights at this resort and stayed in a two bedroom villa which was plenty big enough for our party. The villa had everything we wanted including a full kitchen and a BBQ on the patio. The bedrooms were huge and both were on suite. We made use of the spa facilities and fitness suite whilst we were there, the spa was a really restful and enjoyable experience. We didn't play golf due to the heat but the courses looked in great condition and were set in lovely surroundings with some great tee off positions. I would really recommend this resort for a restful break. The grounds are lovely and the whole atmosphere is quality service and relaxation.

Very nice but not the great resort it was in 1990sPosted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: Absolutely stunning location. The grounds are still well maintained although a recent rain storm left a lot of pea rocks on several of the walkways.
Cons: Improve the attention to details that made this a 5 star resort in its heyday.
Location: Located in Carefree just north of Scottsdale with lots of local attractions including many high level golf courses. Sedona is only a 2 hour drive.

An Exceptional place to StayPosted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: The room and the views.
Cons: A very slow check-in process. The lady that checked us in didn't seem to know much about the room locations, views, etc.
Location: Everything is available at this 5-star resort.
With the exception of a really slow check-in, you couldn't ask for a better place to stay. Beautiful grounds, lovely room, views everywhere, great service etc.

The Boulders-R & R tripPosted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: The comfort of the rooms, the feeling of being a bit isolated yet all the luxury of a big resort!
Cons: Monitor the number of guests at the spa pool & adjust wait staff accordingly. Only one waitress on a very hot day. She tried, but service was slow!
Location: My trip was a rest & relaxation event so no activities planned or required. Was glad there was nothing for me to do (by choice)! :)
This is my 2nd visit to the resort and another lovely experience! The room was perfect, bed & bedding is divine. Staff is very attentive, quick to respond when I needed a shuttle, always pleasant and generous with the bags of ice! The spa is like an oasis in the middle of the desert, quiet and in spite of the 100 temperature, was very pleasant poolside! Food at the Spotted Donkey - WOW! All in All an excellent stay, I will come again!

The Boulders was an exceptional resort!Posted Sep 1, 2014
Pros: The rooms were large and well appointed. We even had a dressing table with make-up lights. The food at both restaurants was outstanding.
Cons: More shops open in the shopping mall on the grounds, but I understand their having to close for lack of people shopping there.
Location: Excellent shopping nearby! We toured Frank Lloyd Wright's home and drove to Jerome, a mining village high in the mountains. Sedona is nearby.
We felt as though our casita was a hideaway with no access by car. Our patio had views of cacti, blooming flowers with hummingbirds and rabbits running in a creek nearby. Golf carts picked us up for our spa treatments, golf adventures, or lodge amenities. The food was excellent, the shopping fun! The staff could not have been nicer. Everyone made us feel as though we were family they hadn't seen for quite a while and we had finally arrived at home. It was difficult to leave!
