Great location in Scottsdale. Nearby upscale shops within walking. Beautiful hotel adjacent to villas where we stayed. The only recommendation that we have is that there should be more of a direct path created to walk from the villas to the hotel. We found our way around the golf shop but this was a bit confusing. It took us a few days to realize that the Kierland Commons shops were on the path past the hotel. The place needs more sign markers. Overall the service was great and the pools and spa were wonderful.

Nice sunny break.Posted Dec 30, 2011
Pros: The swimming pools and good facilities for youngsters
Cons: Service charges
Location: Scottsdale is an ideal location to discover Arizona.
This is a superb hotel of a high standard set around an excellent golf course. The rooms and facilities are very good, plus being able to use the facilities of the Spa and Resort hotel are a bonus. We had a great ten days in Arizona over Christmas with sunshine every day, although it was cold some days. All the swimming pools were OK for swimming every day and one in the villas is heated. Small points, the one bedroom villas have no natural light in the lounge / kitchen area. The 18% service charge plus the 7% tax makes the restaurant meals a bit expensive.

Lovely hotel with lackluster staff memberPosted Dec 23, 2011 on Hotels.com
The location, amenities, room loveliness, and room comfort are all wonderful. They are commensurate with the price. However, the hotel staff, especially the guest concierge, if I can call her that, was pretty awful. We sat in the lobby waiting to check in and the "lady at the desk" didn't greet us or tell us that she'd be with us in a moment. We waited for 10 minutes while she chatted with a young couple, until we politely broke into the conversation and asked her if we were at the check-in desk. We were informed that the empty desk to the right was the check in desk and she would call someone to service us. The woman at the check-in desk was kind and efficient and let us know that the other woman would give us a welcome gift and bottled water. When we approached her a second time for our gift and bottled water, the guest concierge/marketing woman told us that she was out of water. We asked her if she was able to obtain some water for us and she reluctantly admitted that she could. She asked us to come back in 15 minutes, and we were willing, but our room was some distance away from the lobby and we were rather tired and road weary, so once in the room, we decided to forgo a return to the lobby. Before leaving for another long day of driving, we stopped by the lobby to see if we could get the bottled water. We felt that the marketing/concierge lady was annoyed with us for asking. We would stay in this hotel again, but we felt that this employee was lackluster and not up to usual Westin graciousness

Lovely resortPosted Oct 5, 2011
Lovely resort , great golf course and good location for other top courses, excellent staff especially concierge Heather,Shuttle bus driver Jeremiah and Kenny the Barman, good shuttle bus to safeways and kierland commons .Tip- ask the shuttle driver what offers are available at kierland commons for westin customers. My only criticism is that we couldnt smoke on the balcony of our room, dont see what harm that does so long as you dont drop your stubs over the balcony and that you clean up after yourself.

Great stayPosted Sep 2, 2011 on Hotels.com
My wife and I just stayed for 5 days and we would recommend this to both couples and families. Our room was clean and comfortable. Service was great and the stay was relaxing. The family pool had a lot of activities for the kids and the adults had their own pool to lounge. It was a romantic stay for us and we were close to local establishments and the rooms were perfect for us. Not once did the noise from the family pool ever become noticeable or distracting. It was a nice area and would recommend this place to all of our family and friends without hesitation.

D-Backs Summer getawayPosted Aug 16, 2011
We just returned from a week vacation in Scottsdale and stayed at the Westin Kierland Villas. We had an awesome time and did not want to leave. The property is absolutely beautiful. The relaxation pool for those who just want to chill and take in the sun or moon is open 24/7. The activity pool is for families and was awesome. You can play basketball, volleyball, waterslide or just relax! I wish the pool was open later, but not a big deal.(open from 8am to 8pm) It is open late on Saturdays for the swim and movie acticity which we did and had fun. Every day there is a schedule of events for kids and parents which are fun and they give away prizes the the winners/participants...depending on the event. blended drinks. Anyway, we chose not to take part in the timeshare tour, and they never bothered us about it. (2 phone messages, and 1 was a reminder of the daily activities available) we had lots planned already or we may have done this, as many others were ,and I did not hear any negative chatter. All around service was great from the front desk, to the bellmen, bartenders, servers and staff at pool! If you do travel there during summer months you need to know that the adjacent hotel is open, but most amenities are closed for the summer months...(Restaurants) Tons of options nearby in the commons and free shuttle all day and night. Never waited more than 10 minutes for a ride. room was very comfy, but fridge was a little small...only negative for room! I would return for sure!
