“Nice Resort”

Nice stay we I booked 4 nights: Firstable the hotel has two different parts we were placed in Bhuri wing we realized that this side had way better amenities as they are newer and more modern, more private, less kids and less people, than the main side of the hotel. Staff at front desk is kind and professional. Our room building looked dated and it was smelly most of the time. When we came into the room it was a dissapointment since it looks that they were stuck in remodelation and left it half way some parts look old and some parts look new. Bed was super confortable! Nice shower. Room lacks maintenance. Room lacked cleaness, floor was dirty when we came in and daily maid service is not good they do not do a good job cleaning there was many dusty parts, floor and sink were never well cleaned thoughout our stay. Hair dryer did not wok. Beach towels are very old all washed out but clean. Room is not so bad if you take into consideration price it is bareable, specially if you are on a budget. Grounds are beautiful, very well kept, modern, spotless clean, we loved the pool area in front of the beach, wonderful beautiful beach you can swim with some precaution, excellent bar and restaurants, excellent strong drinks,staff is friendly. Prices for food, drinks and excursions are great!!! All these make up for the not so nice room, as we spent most of our time outside. Kata Beach is nice. If you are on a budget I would definitely recommend this resort.

Must go to PHI PHI ISLANDS the hotel offers good tours at good prices. don't miss this it is a great experience and one of the most beautiful places we have ever been too.

Outdoors or beach

I do not recommend staying in Patong we were there one night and were glad did not stay there it is super noisy, many vendors trying to sell you everything!!! Dirty streets, not a nice place at all. We all four people disliked it. On the other hand Kata is great! Good vibe nice restaurants, not very crowded, smaller and more intimate.

“We actualy got upgraded to Katathani Shore - very impressed”

The Katathani shore has great ocean views and private swimming pools per each room. It was spacious, clean and the best room I ever could imagine. Our Villa didnt share any walls so we had complete privacy. Its far away from Patong so if you want a quiet vacation that was the place. The staff was friendly and helpfull. It wasnt that expensive for things. Maybe it was because its not a major season but things like mini bar was not overpriced and even the gift shop was not bad. We actualy paid more for a scented bar of soap outside the hotel. I will go again someday.

“Would go there again”

We arrived late at night and were given a room in the old part of the hotel. The room was nit very clean. We were upgraded to a Junior suite in the Ocean wing the next day. Excellent service and attention to customers. Miss Suranya was outstanding in her assistance and help. We thank the entire staff. Would love to go there again. Hermann

“Great beach and location, the older wing is in need of a re-furb”

We had a lovely stay here, there are several pools to choose from and the beach is very scenic and the waves make for a refreshing swim. There are also some good restaurants on the street behind the hotel which we found offered much better value for dinner. Kata is also a few mins away by tuk tuk. We stayed in the older wing and our room was very dated; I understand the rooms in the other wing have been re-fursbished more recently.

“Good but somewhat isolated”

The Katathani Phuket Beach Resort is a great resort , expansive with 6 different swimming pools, manicured grounds and 6 different restaurants. There are also two check in areas and a lot of spread out places to explore. Just across the street to the small but pristine Kata Noi beach. If you are looking to get away and relax for a few days, at a high quality, well maintained and clean resort, this is ideal. If you want to be able to explore the town on foot - there are only a few small but decent and low cost eating places nearby. For anything else - such as nightlife, shopping choices, people watching, or general excitement - you'll need to take a taxi and head up to Kata town (5 mins), Karon beach (less than 10 mins) or Patong (20 mins).

Area recommendations

The beach is lovely, peaceful and not crowded - this is really the point of the location in Kata Noi. You feel like you are really in a small secluded place, not at all like the much more touristy, bustling, loud Patong or Karon areas. But there is not much except for the Katathani resort here, and not much else to do beside the beach / pool and resort-organized activities.

“Beautiful location and excellent service”

My husband and I stayed at Katathani Phuket Beach Resort for our honeymoon from April 25 to May 6, 2011. We traveled around a lot during our stay and feel Katathini has the best location on the entire island of Phuket. The beach is gorgeous and Katathani is the only resort on the beach. The grounds of Katathani are beautiful and the service is excellent. My only criticism of Katathani was that our Deluxe room in the Bhuri wing was a bit dated. Since we weren't in the room much, though, it wasn't much of a conern. Breakfast at Cinnamon was included in our room rate and the food was excellent. We'll definitely go back to Katathani.

“Relaxing beachside retreat”

That Katathani Resort was everything we were hoping for. We stayed in a deluxe room in the Bhurri wing, which is literally just across the street from the beach. The room was large, and our balcony even had a view of the water. Service was awesome! It was my birthday, and they surprised me with a birthday cake and orchids! We hadn't even told anyone it was my bday -- they must have gotten it from our check-in information. Food was decent. They gave us coupons for dinner at Seacret when we checked in, and that was so worth it! The best part -- the beach. We went snorkeling right off the beach and saw amazing sea life. It was nice, too, to leave our stuff at our chairs on property and not worry about it. We could sit poolside, or even better, facing the ocean, and get drinks from the poolside bar. This hotel was definitely worth the cost!

“Well worth a return trip”

My wife and I vacation in Phuket a great deal. We normally stay at five star resort in the south of the island but could not get in over the period we wanted. We picked this resort as a second choice, based upon reviews on a website. As we had not been there before we were apprehensive but as soon as we checked in we were very pleasantly surprised. The room in the shores was absolutely stunning. Hotel services were prompt and the staff extremely helpful and pleasant. The in-room breakfast was dissappointing but the terrace buffet breakfast was very good. We intend to return soon and would certainly recommend the resort to any of our friends.

Getting around

We would certainly recommend a rental car, they are cheap and easy to rent. Renting motorcycles is an option and it is easy to do. Just a pasport is required. No motorcycle licence is asked for. We would caution against renting motorcycles as many tourists do unless one has a lot of motorcycle experience, especially if carrying a passenger. The traffic can be hectic and always in a hurry to pass. We have seen many accidents over the years involving tourists who rent motorcycles and have very little or no experience on them. I have had a nasty one myself!!

“Disappointment across the board”

Check in was a disaster. We were not informed that the room we booked was across the street from the main resort. The first room they showed us backed up to a vacant lot, smelled like mildew and overlooked a small insignificant pool. We were out of there in 10 seconds. The manager was called and we were then shown a room, also smelling of mildew with two twin beds. The room we booked was for a king bed. The third room had an electric circuit breaker for the whole area right up against the window ( we did not travel half way around the world to look at an electric pole). Finally the fourth room resembled the pictures online. It was a horrible experience. The layout of the room was fine, as was the view, but...they have a water feature in the room that constantly gurgles and the water is recycled and began to smell. So did the wooden slats in the shower. I am not a complainer, but this was a huge disappointment. The beach is so lovely (it is public and not part of the hotel) and idyllic, but the hotel was a true disappointment. The buffet breakfast was ok. We went to one dinner in the hotel restaurant, and it was average. Better to go to the Kata town for some nice dining. If I were returning to Kata (which we really liked) I would not return to the Katathani. Also, we were not the only guest complaining. Every time we walked by the front desk someone had some sort of problem I have taken pictures of my complaints and would be happy to submit them.
