Good Experience for a Getaway tripPosted Jul 14, 2013
Pros: Nice staff & impressive swimming pool
Cons: Walking distance from the lift to room and to lobby
Nice swimming pool and positive service attitude of the staff. However, most staff couldn't speak good English. Far walking distance to the karon beach. Slight inconvenience when the lift was spoilt and next alternative is the buggy. No shelter for the walking distance from the room to lift; hence caught in the rain despite with umbrella and the buggy would be unsafe to be used. Room for improvement for the western food like chicken and pork chop. Limited choice for dine in meals.

View from the mountain topPosted Apr 1, 2013
For one who would like a tranquil environment, Karon Phunaka is great! To note though that the walls are probably quite thin hence please refrain from getting too rowdy at any time of the day lest you incur the wrath of neighbours who love to sleep / coup themselves inside the hotel room.

Vacation in ThailandPosted Mar 23, 2013
Our overall experience was very good. The one thing I would suggest to the hotel is that their key staff improve on their English. All employees were very friendly and were always available when needed.
Bit of a hike, but great hotelPosted Mar 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
My sister and I stayed here for four nights in January. The hotel is situated up on the hill overlooking Karon. The views are amazing and the hotel is (mostly) very quiet given the location. The drawback is that you have to hike up the hill in order to get to the hotel. You also have allow extra time when you're on a tight schedule in order to wait for the funicular that serves levels 2-4. But the walk is pleasant and safe and there's a free shuttle down to the beach during the day. The staff was very helpful. When we asked for dry beach towels, someone was at the door within minutes. And when we locked ourselves out our safe, someone was able to remedy the situation very quickly. We had very obnoxious neighbors for a few of the nights who dragged the heavy wooden furnitute and slammed the heavy wooden doors endlessly. Unfortunately the noise carried through the walls/floors.

Hotel with great viewPosted Feb 20, 2013
Pros: Great view of the ocean. Big rooms, outstanding service
Cons: Patchy wireless internet. Very slow elevator
Location: A bit of a walk to the beach. Be prepared to climb stairs
The hotel is literally built on the side of a mountain, which allows for an spectacular panoramic view of the ocean. The room is big and fairly clean. Service overall is outstanding. The breakfast has a lot of variety. The one warning for anyone considering this hotel is be prepare to climb a lot of stairs; the hotel highlights that it has the only funicular cable lift on the island, but having a single one means having to wait long for it. The wireless internet needs improvement; certain rooms will have no wireless signal. Wired internet is available.

Not that greatPosted Nov 11, 2012 on Hotels.com
Be ready for alot of walking in here. As a hotel itself is nice. Room was good. I had taken the dupliex room "whatever the name is". The only reason why booking in this Hotel was the Balcony Jacuzi which is not Private at all. As a muslem I was unable to use as it is very revealing unless my wife has to dress up to in Jacuzzi. :). You can go to Cape Siena if you are looking for privacy. Hotel is on the top of a highland and it was VERY far to go down without a car. The hotel will charge you 100 Bhat to give you a 5 min ride down. In my Opinion, they have to make it free. Once you are down to the main road, you are in the middle of Karon beach. Interesting place to see. I did not like much and I don't recommend.
