From Phunphin, Krabi is about 65 miles (105 kilometers) to the south, while Koh Samui is 70 miles (113 kilometers) to the northeast.
Don't limit yourself to Phunphin; the wider region has a wealth of scenic and cultural attractions which await the savvy traveler. Phru Thai, 19 miles (31 kilometers) to the east, and Ban Na San, 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the northwest of Phunphin are also worth visiting should you have the time.
Organize some transport and spend half a day in Surat Thani, a major city for the region, situated about 14 miles (23 kilometers) away from Phunphin. The city has plenty of attractions, such as Central Plaza Suratthani, Suratthani Rajabhat Univeristy and Seatran Ferry Pier. Raja Ferry Pier, Donsak Pier and Na Muang Temple a few of the other visitor attractions definitely worth visiting for those who have time left.
Surat Thani is renowned for its ruins; these are often evocative portals into the area's colorful past. This region is home to a fascinating religious life; so take the time to visit the area's many temples.
