Near centre of PickeringPosted Oct 14, 2013
Pros: The staff, our welcome and the food.
Cons: The shower in our room
Location: Within easy walking distance of the centre of Pickering. Easy to reach the N. Yorks Moors, The N. Yorks Railway and Whitby.
An Edwardian house run by the owner as a small hotel. Lovely warm people who did their best to make our stay memorable. The food is absolutely fabulous and is locally sourced. Do not stay here if you do not like good food. We only stayed two nights but if we had stayed longer we would have piled on the pounds. If you are a gourmet trencherman then this hotel is the holy grail!

We stayed for two nights in the Garden Room which was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast very good with self serve cereals, fresh fruit salad and yogurt. Served cooked breakfast of your choice was excellent.

Lovely Place to Stay and be Spoilt !Posted Apr 7, 2013
Pros: Fantastic Attentive Staff, Great Hotel.
Cons: The Shower Pressure in room 7 was low but apart from that minor point, it's a great Hotel.
Location: Great location a five min walk into Pickering and very very handy for the NYMR station for the Steam Train ride into Whitby.

Comfortable, clean and friendly guest housePosted Jul 8, 2012
Location: A short walk from the centre of a delightful town
This is essentially a guest house (serving dinner to residents if required), rather than a full service hotel, but does not pretend to be otherwise. The room and bathroom were clean, although the shower cubicle was rather on the small side; there was a good array of toiletries. The proprietor and her staff are friendly and, although we did not really avail ourselves of their services, I am sure that they would have looked after us well had we required anything other than somewhere to sleep in comfort and have (extremely generous and well-cooked) breakfasts. Tea and biscuits on arrival, served in the residents' lounge, was a nice touch. The hotel is only a few minutes' walk from the town centre and there is adequate parking on site. All in all, a lovely find at a sensible price.

Excellent breakPosted Sep 1, 2011
We stayed for three nights and were very impressed. The Old Manse is about 10 miniutes walk from the centre of Pickering. The hotel is very comfortable with helpful staff and a terrific full English breakfast. We would certainly stay there again.

The Old Manse Hotel in Pickering, North YorkshirePosted Jun 21, 2011 on Hotels.com
This was my third stay at the Old Manse, ... it is as charming as ever, in a beautiful location. The House itself conveys a relaxing atmosphere...This is traditional hospitality at its best.. you feel you could stay a week or more , meet other guests and feel totally at ease to spend the evening in the lounge speaking with them. The evening dinner menu offers an excellent choice... Last, but not least, the owner and her staff make you feel so very welcome... Certainly a good address to pass on to my friends, ...
