Despite some deficiencies, I’d still give Chiostro a top rating. (Booking it you know it’s not a 5 star resort) Our room was spacious,clean & comfortable. The grounds are beautiful. Parking free, safe & right outside It was an easy walk to the beautiful city of Volterra. The dining room is excellent. We ate both dinners there. The breakfast provided was also excellent. All the staff was wonderful & so helpful. The internet in our room was spotty. The staff know & that is being addressed. We learned that the internet is a problem throughout Volterra. We were very pleased & would love gladly return to Chiostro delle Monache & Volterra.

The staff was helpful with an excellent spoken English. The bedroom was very clean and comfortable with additional pillows if needed, and a small fridge. The room has air conditioning with a very spacious bathroom. The atmosphere of the convent was very special with large hallways, a sense of peace and calmness. We went to the restaurant that night and it was very nice. They have an inside or outside area, and we decided to stay outside where the tables were not closely connected to the other tables and there were arches with a little garden in the middle. We had their “vino della casa,” which was very good, and the food was excellent too. The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from Volterra. We had the breakfast included and the buffet was wonderful with different cakes, croissants, cookies, breads, ham or cheese, etc. We would definitely recommend this stay as this was one of the best hotels we stayed while we were travelling in Italy.

The staff in all departments were great, helpful, very friendly and approachable. The reception team bent over backwards to help us when our flight home to the UK was cancelled. The room was very clean, spacious, comfortable and attended to every day. The buffet breakfast was all you could eat with a huge choice of food. The restaurant was good value for money and had a good selection of meals. The location of the hotel was very interesting with a 20 minute walk to the centre of Volterra.

Great easy location. Not really within walking to the city of Volterra. But close enough to drive 2 min to parking. Great breakfast and good dinner location attached/near the rooms.

Comfort and Character at a great price.
What a great find. Lots of character. Comfortable room, especially like the bed and pillows. Breakfast was excellent. Just a short walk to the beautiful town of Volterra. Hotel was quiet. Free parking and good wifi. Quite a unique place to stay. Would recommend.

A unique and enjoyable experience
An enjoyable stay in a unique facility. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The courtyard provided a wonderful place to relax. While the reception desk was not open all day, when it was it provided beverages and a cappacino at truly modest prices. The restaurant affiliated with the facility was excellent and I highly recommend the pollenta appetizer.

Great hotel, inexpensive and friendly staff.
The best! Great historical place. Excellent accommodations. Good breakfast. Excellent location near everything and everywhere you need and want to go. Valentina, at the front desk she is the most professional, smart, helpful (speaks 4 languages) knows what to recommend to fit your budget. Every Concierge speaks at least 3 languages: English, Spanish, French. I have not enough words to recommend and thank this beautiful hotel and the city of Volterra and its kind people for making our vacation a forever memorable experience. Thank you Chiostro Delle Monache. We'll return for sure. Grazie mile!

The rooms are simple but the place is filled with charm and warmth from the employees to the 400 year old converted convent. It was wonderful accept no ac. In August. Hot.

This hotel is simple, and certainly not offering much beyond a clean room with basic toiletries. However, if that's all you need, this is perfect, and is within easy walking distance of the historic centre of Volterra.

Ideally located for exploring the sites
The Chiostro is a fantastic gem of a hotel. Ideally located to visit the main sites and situated in the beautiful town of Volterra. The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming. The room was spotless and comfortable. We traveled with our 3 boys who loved this place. We had use of a nearby pool which was unexpected but welcomed on the days we took a break from sightseeing. Will definitely book again!

Converted monastery near Volterra in Tuscany
We stayed at this delightful converted monastery situated 20minutes walk from the ancient city of Volterra in Italy;we were there to see Andrea Bocelli's annual concert at his home village in Tuscany.We were met by very friendly and helpful reception staff. The facilities though not modern were clean,the age of the building meant that it was nice and cool inside when too hot out of doors;tho air conditioning would have been an added bonus had it been provided.Breakfast was provided in an ancient refectory or outside in the old cloisters;it was very adequate and much of the food appeared homemade.Would stay again if in that part of Italy

In the heart of Etruria
Former monastery cloister the hotel is very nice, clean, a rooms are spacious, the neighborhood quiet (except very pleasant birds songs). The breakfast is very tastefull. The young peoples working at the desktop vere frendly and cooperative. There are a spacious parking place and a center of the old city is at about half an hour walking distance.

Sehr freundliches Personal, ruhige Atmosphäre, eindrucksvolle Umgebung, schöne Zimmer und gutes Frühstück lassen keine Wünsche mehr offen. Die wunderschöne Altstadt ist fußläufig in 10 Min erreichbar. Also jederzeit wieder !

Pessima esperienza, una sola notte e' bastata
Molte carenze organizzative: - lavandino otturato, dispencer della carta igienica in esaurimento, con pochi fogli disponibili. Colazione mediocre, priva di frutta. Organizzazione anti_covid del buffet della colazione, confuso, con personale poco preparato. Inca8pacita' di gestire il reclamo nel corso del check out.

Gentilissimo Signor Angelo, la gestione delle sue contestazioni, che sono iniziate nella sala colazioni, dove lei non ha nemmeno atteso la collega della sala e si è servito autonomamente, e sono poi terminate con un monologo da noi mai interrotto al checkout, è stata a mia avviso l'unica possibile. Noi naturalmente ci scusiamo per le pecche della stanza, ma come già le ho detto di persona, generalmente quando ci vengono contestate al momento in cui si verificano, cerchiamo di ovviare in ogni modo. Se il problema viene posto unicamente al check-out, possiamo soltanto annuire e prendere nota. Ci dispiace che la nostra struttura non sia stata di suo gradimento e ci auguriamo possa lei trovare, come già ha fatto nei suoi innumerevoli viaggi, una soluzione più adeguata alle sue necessità. Buon Hotel/Ostello, personale simpatico. Un po' rumoroso la notte ( deve esserci non lontano un impianto industriale)... ma con la finestra chiusa il rumore è attenuato. Belle le sale e i chiostri. Camere essenziali ma molto pulite.

Si tratta di un ex convento ristrutturato ed è una struttura di un certo fascino con una bella sala colazione affrescata. Si trova appena fuori dal centro storico e dispone di un parcheggio. Camera semplice ma confortevole, bagno spazioso, letto comodo. Personale gentile.

Ci siamo fermati solo per una notte, ma ci siamo veramente trovati bene. Personale gentilissimo, chiostro molto curato, camere pulite e con tutto il necessario. Inoltre molto vicino al centro di Volterra, raggiungibile a piedi. Ottima scoperta!

Tolles Hostel mit besonderem Ambiente
Die Anreise war für uns trotz Navi (Straße nicht vorhanden) etwas schwierig, weil wir eine Straße zu spät eingebogen waren und dort keine Beschilderung für das Hostel stand. Wären wir in der korrekten Straße abgebogen, hätte dort allerdings ein Schild gestanden. Die tolle Auswahl beim Frühstück u. a. mit diversen Säften und frischem Kuchen hätten wir nicht erwartet, war top!

Stadtnah und trotzdem ruhig
Die Zimmer sind zwar schlicht, aber es braucht in dieser Umgebung nicht mehr. Das Gebäude, ein ehemaliges Kloster, ist zu einem Hotel/Hostel umgebaut. Gefrühstückt wird in einem Saal, der mit alten Fresken geschmückt ist. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker, mit Ei, Wurst und Käse. Es ist absolut ruhig, aber trotzdem Stadtbahn. Ich würde jederzeit wiederkommen.
