Nice hotel but....

Posted Jun 23, 2011 on Hotels.com
A lovely building with a stunning view. The food was good but expensive. The real issue though is the wine. Only one choice was available there was no wine list and no price given. For a run of the mill house red it turned out to very expensive. Dinner for two nights significantly more than doubled the cost of our stay. The hotel is several km from the town so its not that convenient to eat elsewhere which they clearly trade on!

Lovely quiet hotel far from the crowds

Posted Jun 24, 2009
Whilst this hotel may be a bit difficult to find first time, you'll be glad that you made the effort. The views are great and the presentation of the hotel and its bedrooms very comfortable. The only drawback is that the level of English is very poor so communication may be a challenge on times so you'd better brush up on your Italian. Only disappointment is that Expedia took a prepayment on the room and the hotel also charged me when I was there so ended up double paying.

Worst ever visited

Posted Oct 26, 2008 on Hotels.com
Minimal staff are not trained. One lady at bar could not open a bottle of wine and tried to serve dregs from an open bottle. Menus for evening dinner were not typed at 7:30 pm. Rudely treated when we went to dinner and were mistaken for a group of tourists. No ambience or caring qualities. Food in main was fine but coffee was probably carcinogenic it was so old. Positively this Hotel is needing a complete reorganisation giving it trained staff who like their jobs and people.

C'est bien mais

Posted Jul 8, 2008 on Hotels.com

sterile hotel with poor food

Posted Jan 3, 2008
Even though the hotel had only 3 or 4 rooms occupied they put us in the smallest double room I've ever been in! they insisted on keeping our passports until we checked out which I found really odd? dinner was expensive and very poor quality. The staff made no attempt to speak english which made us feel unwelcome. wouldn't recommend it!

Beautiful hotel, perfect experience of Tuscany

Posted Jul 24, 2007
Easily the best of 4 hotels we stayed in on our recent honeymoon trip across Italy. Beautifully modernised rooms, attractive lounge and dining areas, large swimming pool, incredible views and full of character. The ideal place to stay to enjoy the Tuscany countryside but with the amenities of a hypermarket and the town of Pistoia still only a short drive away. Perfect location for visiting Pisa, Florence and Siena etc. We will definitely be returning.

Very good hotel for the price

You get more hotel for your dollar at Il Convento. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are also very clean, however, the showers are small. The only problem is noise transmission through the doors. The noise from the halls carry right into your room. Also, the hotel can be somewhat difficult to find.

Stunning views, comfortable stay

Although we had an issue with twin beds rather than a double on arrival this was sorted out quickly and efficiently despite the language barrier. The staff were friendly, room extremelly clean and atmosphere relaxed with delicious food. The views from the hotel are beutiful, a really stunning venue to get away from it all. I would highly recommend it.
