Excellent basic hotelPosted May 26, 2014 on Hotels.com
A great place to spend a few nights - simple and basic, not 5-star luxury, but clean and with good facilities at a very good price. The owners are very friendly and helpful, advising on places to eat, trips, even getting rail tickets! There is even free WiFi internet in the rooms. The hotel is situated in a small square with its own seating in front, so not claustrophobic, and within easy walking distance of shops, cafes, the spa area and railway station. NB despite the address being Montecatini Terme, the central station is slightly nearer. Also convenient for trips to Florence, Pisa and Lucca. The funicular railway to the top of the hill is well worth the effort of walking up to the station.

Nice hotel, fantastic staff.Posted Oct 21, 2013
We stayed at La Pia for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is run by Maria and her brother and they offer a very friendly and efficient service. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Our room, on the 4th floor, had great views out to Montecatini Alto, was quiet and comfortable. Montecatini is an excellent base from which to visit Northern Tuscany and La Pia is less than 10 minutes from the rail station. La Pia offered to purchase rail tickets in advance and their excellent local knowledge is like having a local 'Tourist Information' office on hand. We will definitely consider La Pia again should we decide to stay in Montecatini.

Great home base for travelling in northern TuscanyPosted Jul 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
Traveling by car with family of four, this place made for an excellent home base for northern Tuscany. The hotel is not too far from major highway and walking distance from train station which took us Florence. Maria Pia was a valued source of information for our travel too. Breakfast buffet was also very good. The only issue is the area is a little difficult to access by car, but this was minor issue. Reserve parking is available, 7 euro per day, and recommended as free parking can be hard to find, and some free parking lots did not look too safe. The surrounding area is pleasant with lots of choices for nearby restaurants, shops, self serve laundry, etc.

A perfect place to stay when in Montecatini TermePosted May 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
La Pia is a lovely welcoming hotel where the owners do everything to make sure your stay is enjoyable. Dinner at La Pie is excellent. Local dishes and wines are featured, and prepared and served with care. Free parking is available and breakfasts are included. We were most happy that we stayed there.

Exceptional ServicePosted Nov 5, 2010
La Pia is a wonderful, family owned hotel. They are dedicated to giving you the best possible experience during your stay. They respond immediately to all requests (i.e. mattress too hard or soft - they'll change it!). Maria will assist with any travel arrangements, including purchasing tickets and finding hotels in other cities. The food is excellent. Dinners include several courses of delicious offerings and the breakfast buffet was one of the best I've ever seen. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring Tuscany. Easy walking distance to train and bus stations and only a few hours train ride to many cities. In terms of friendliness and service this is absolutely the BEST hotel I have ever stayed in! Would recommend it highly to anyone planning a vacation in Italy.
