Paris, the capital of France, is situated roughly 50 miles (80 kilometers) to the north of Pithiviers.
While it may be a temptation to limit yourself to just the local sights when visiting Pithiviers, remember, the surrounding region's treasure-trove of natural and man-made attractions are never more than a day trip away. Head to the Malesherbes Town Hall and Malesberbes Church in Malesherbes, which is roughly 13 miles (21 kilometers) away from Pithiviers. Another idea is to travel to Artenay. It's approximately 16 miles (26 kilometers) from Pithiviers and is home to the Theatre Museum Forain and Church of Artenay.
If you're staying in Pithiviers, why not visit Orleans. Approximately 25 miles (40 kilometers) away, this regional city is where you'll find Sainte-Croix Cathedral, House of Joan of Arc and Place du Martroi. Make sure you don't return to Pithiviers until you've checked out Orleans' St. Pierre-le-Puellier and Place de la Loire.
If the weather forecast isn't that great, spend some time in Centre - Loire Valley's craft workshops. Every destination offers a special history and Centre - Loire Valley has its own stories to tell. The castles here provide a fascinating window on the past.
Why not combine a little learning with leisure on your travels by signing up for one of the region's popular winery tours, cycling tours and city walking tours.
As your time here draws to an end, spend your last euros on that last souvenir and bid a fond Au revoir / À bientôt (farewell) to the interesting characters you've met and the places you've seen.
