Not the best experience

Posted Jul 14, 2015
Pros: Clean rooms, overall nice staff, nice selection of beer, breakfast really good.
Cons: You should warn folks ahead of time if you computer system doesn't work. You might improve the coffee and snack in the bistro.
Location: Location not good. Nothing immediately near by, though plenty to do within a semi-reasonable distance.
Their computer system was down the entire time we were there (2.5 days). You could not use any credit or debit card at the restaurant, bistro, etc. They attempted to "hold our credit numbers on file" so that they could charge them later. Given that we weren't willing to allow them to write down our card info on a random slip of paper, nor did we have cash, we were forced to put everything on the room, on a card that we didn't want to use. Their Starbucks specialty coffees didn't taste like Starbucks. They ran out of coffee cup lids (how is that possible?), so we had to carry hot coffee filled to the brim from the coffee bar up to our rooms each day. The prices of the snacks were ridiculous, even for a nice hotel.

Good hotel, clean, nice staff. Food was excellent in the hotel restaurant. Rooms were clean and had free internet. No malls nearby or close restaurants.

Cons: the communication by the staff
Location: We where only in town for the ballgame. This was not our first choice of hotels.
We were in town for two Pirates games. At check in the gal sounded like a wined up doll, felt like I was talking to a recording. Got to our room and wa pleased with the cleaniness, very comfortable. However, there was an odd smell after we used the shower. Looked like mold in the ceiling. Asked for extra towels and they never came. Had been told there was a shuddle to take us to the game and pick us up after the game. They did get us to the game, however they had no one to bring us back, we had to get a cab. We have later found out this hotel services the airlines and they are they are first priority...so all their vans where at the airport. They saw it fitting to leave a military vet standing down town for over an hour, we finally called a cab. When we got back to the hotel other guest who where having their own issues told us the van had been parked there for over an hour - not sure how true that is. In the morning we did mention the disappointment with the shuddle, they are to be removing those fees from our charges.

Pros: Public areas as well as our rooms were very clean. Oh, and thanks for the warm cookie too!
We stayed 4th of July weekend, one of the busiest weekends of the year. The hotel was sold out yet the staff didn't miss a beat. Kudos to everyone at Double Tree. Your hard work did not go unnoticed.

Pros: Cleanliness, convenience, comfort
Location: Convenient to downtown. We had a short stay, just overnight after attending a ball game.
We took the hotel shuttle downtown to attend a Pirates/Indians game and called the hotel afterward to pick us up which they did very quickly. This was a tremendous convenience because parking was at a premium and traffic was very congested. The hotel staff was very accommodating.
