Nothing special about the experience. The hotel was close to downtown and walkable to most attractions.

Room not ready

Posted Jul 27, 2015
We have been booked to months - I had 3 rooms, We tried to get in early since we had other commitments at 3. They would not hold our luggage, but did tell me we could park in their lot. Which was full! I was told good luck, try another lot!!! So now we have to walk around and try to make it to our appointment, then to return at 5:30pm to find out we still do not have rooms!!!! WTH Then to finally give me a room with one queen bed, oh and if you need you can pull out the sofa!!! Really! Not for that kind of money am I going to sleep on a SOFA!! Now we are not on the same floor as the rest of our party as originally planned. What a BUST and to top it all off our Rooms did not have coffee nor did they have counter space in the bathroom (pedestal sink).

Central location

Posted Jul 20, 2015
Pros: Location, complimentary shuttle
Cons: Staff seems a bit "impersonal" or too much in a hurry (more a reflection of the type of hotel than the people, probably) to answer questions
Location: While walking back to the hotel from the Strip, we ended up in the Cultural District. Not hard to find at all.
We stayed here on our first overnight trip to Pittsburgh. Aside from a few initial annoyances (parking lot was full due to a convention in town and we had to park across the street rather than in hotel parking; construction area and detours made just getting near the hotel a pain, etc.), our stay was fine, nothing better, nothing worse than that. The room (2 double beds) was spacious and we had a nice view of the city at night. The bathroom was a bit cramped and dim, but worked out okay. It is not exactly soundproof - we could hear the kids next door - but nothing major. We appreciated having a complimentary shuttle take us where we wanted to go (would pick up until 10:45 pm). Overall, a good downtown hotel that is pretty centrally-located.

Great location, good layout, tight for family

Posted Jul 18, 2015
The pros: this is a terrific location in downtown Pittsburgh, an easy walk to museums, ballpark, and attractions. The suite, with a king bed in the bedroom and a queen sleep sofa in the living room, slept four (two adults, two children) quite comfortably. Room rate was reasonable, and room service was surprisingly affordable. The cons: the bathroom was very, very small and had almost no space for toiletries and supplies, or hanging space for used towels and wet swimsuits. (Adding a few towel hooks would be a simple fix.) The toilet paper holder, ludicrously, was on the wall opposite the toilet and not easily reachable. We were traveling with two young children, one of whom had allergies, so that we took some snacks and modest meals in the suite; but the refrigerator was ridiculously small, and there was no place to eat (such as a small table) except on the sofa. Housekeeping was so-so. (In fairness, the room was strewn with a lot of kids' stuff that maybe the staff was reluctant to straighten.) Intriguingly, we noticed a "dead space" behind a locked panel that apparently used to be a kitchen, suggesting that this hotel used to be an apartment building. A basic kitchenette, just a counter and sink though certainly not a dishwasher and stove, would've been a godsend. Doubletree might consider renovating some, not all, of the suites at this hotel to include small kitchenette. I think that'd appeal greatly to families and to corporate travelers.

Pros: Very convenient to ball park
Cons: Size of room
Location: Baseball park and great food options
Rooms were very small, bathrooms particularly. Was up most of night due to other hotel guests banging on doors, yelling. I opened my door to ask them to quiet down and there was a staff member with them. In addition, had to call for security because they kept yelling. Was difficult night

Pros: The shuttle service is an excellent feature. Operates in a timely fashion and is very efficient.
Cons: Parking.
Location: Market square is a quick walk.
Joey at the front desk was excellent!!!!! He deserves kudos. He was extremely pleasant, professional and customer service driven. He offered us water/cookies/fruit upon arrival. Gave us details on surrounding food/entertainment he suggested. Very appreciated.
