Great location to Heinz Field

Posted Jun 23, 2014
Pros: It was clean and the location was great
Location: Heinz Field, PNC Park, close to Market Square
Room was very nice. Beds were not very comfortable. Too soft. Walls must be thin because you could hear people in the hallway to the point you thought they were in your room.

Expected more from 4-5 star hotel

Posted Jun 23, 2014
Pros: Close to venue and it was pretty nice. I would not rate it a 4.5 star as it was advertised
Cons: Clean the rooms before you send your guest up to them.
Location: The location was great, again close to our venue and the subway station (which was FREE) was only a short block away, which was great.
For what I paid for this hotel, and paid for the convenience to where I was going, I expected a 4-5 star experience for 4-5 star pricing. My view was of the highway, not the city or the river as it boasted in Expedia add. The room was way smaller than expected. The first room we were given was not even made up, the TV was on and all the beds and dirty laundry were all over the place! Arghhhh! Disgusting! One of the manager's did comp us drinks and appetizers in the lounge, but we barely made it to our venue due to the delay. I would have expected an upgrade for the inconvenience. Also, Valet parking was offered and there was none available, we had to walk a block away to park. A bit of false advertising I would say. Although, I would stay here again, if I were going to the same venue. Very convenient to the stadium.

Dear Babby, We appreciate that you chose to stay with us recently, and regret that your experience did not meet your expectations. Especially concerning is that your initial guestroom was not ready for you, and we are very sorry. We are definitely addressing this with our housekeeping director and taking the appropriate action on our end. We would welcome the opportunity to serve you again.

Very Poor Experience. NO PARKING!

Posted Jun 9, 2014
Location: Great location to PNC Park, Heinz Field, Strip District
I recently stayed at the Wyndham Grand and unfortunately had a very poor experience. I arrived anticipating having a pleasant stay but was very disappointed upon my arrive to find that the Valet Lot was full and all of the parking surrounding the hotel (using a list provided by the hotel) was also full. When I asked what my solution was I was told that unfortunately there is nothing they could do and I would have to continue driving around until I found a spot, even if it were across the river. I found myself very taken back by this as there was no offer of looking for another hotel within there brand in the area, offering a shuttle from a different lot, or even just containing the garages to see if there were indeed any spots. After eventually spending most of my afternoon looking for parking we checked in and were placed on the "Grand Floor." When we arrived to our room it was at most 300 square feet, the shower grout was cracked in multiple places, and the cleanliness was sub par. Overall, I was very disappointed in this branch and will no longer be staying at any of there hotels in the future.

Pittsburgh Hotel

Great for a place to return after long day of sessions. Rooms small; newly renovated but already showing signs of wear.

Not worth the money

Posted May 18, 2014
When I booked this hotel I was really excited because I got the room for $140 after taxes when the rooms start out at like $300 after taxes and I thought it was going to be really nice but after I arrived at the hotel, I was not impressed at all. The room was super tiny and not that nice at all. It was clean but if I would of paid $300 a night for that room I would of been really upset. I didn't even think it was worth the $140. And besides the less than satisfactory room, everything was super pricey. It cost $30 a night for parking. We ordered breakfast in the morning, it was two fruit plates with yogurt and a orange juice and it came to $40. I could of gotten four breakfasts elsewhere for that much. We didn't eat at the restaurant but I looked at the menu and he cheapest dinner was like $24. Idk maybe I'm just cheap but I didn't think it was worth the money and I didn't think it was very upscale or as nice as a hotel with their standard rooms at $300 a night. I expected more.

We appreciate that you chose to stay with us recently, and are sorry to hear that you felt you did not receive your value. We do have several different room sizes available at various rates. With regard to the parking fees, we regret that we do not have any control over the rates that the local garages charge for valet or self-parking. Should your plans bring you back to Pittsburgh, we would welcome the opportunity to serve you again if you choose. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.

Car held hostage by valet and marathon

Posted May 11, 2014
Hotel was so-so but the car valet parking was so bad that the entire experience was awful. Due to the Pittsburgh Marathon, we were not able to get our car from the valet until 2 o'clock. This is a few hours after checkout time. So we were essentially trapped. Upon check-in, they made no mention of this at all. Neither at the front desk nor at the valet area. Had either of those people told us, we would definitely have parked our car elsewhere. The front desk claimed no responsibility, saying that this is a separate operation from the hotel. But yet it's clearly offered as part of the hotel services upon check-in. And the valet parking was $30 on top of all of that. For next year's race, we will be definitely be staying elsewhere!

Dear Gary, We appreciate that you chose to stay during the city's marathon events, and are very sorry to hear that your valet experience did not meet your expectations. Please know we do make every effort to pass along the information concerning road closures and delays as we receive it from the city, to help keep our guests informed. We hope you will reconsider staying with us again for next year's race.

Hotel close to downtown but not worth the price

Posted May 6, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Everything mentioned above
I stayed here for the 2014 Pittsburgh Marathon and they were not accommodating to me in any way. They would not allow a late check out (as I was running the marathon that day) and I had to beg to get my room switched from a 1 King to 2 Double. My room was very small with little room to move around. The walls were paper thin, and I could hear everything from the room next door. (more than I wanted to hear). The bar in the lobby charged me $5 for 1 Miller Lite, and wanted $30 for a 6-pack. I paid $380 to stay one night and will never stay again. I figured for spending that much money, they would have given me a break with the check out time, or at least a drink. When I called a few months prior to the date I stayed, the person I spoke with told me that it would not be a problem to check out late and I would not get charged. They also told me (as it was also documented on the reservation) that I could have 2 double beds instead of 1 King. That of course was a huge issue when I went to check in. Their customer service is lacking to say the least, and there is no accountability for anything.,

Good location, average hotel

Posted May 5, 2014
Pros: Breakfast on premises and good brand of toiletries.
Cons: Room was a bit dingy and a little dark. Probably due for an update.
Location: Walked to Cafe Amante nearby and a few of the shops. Convenient to Oakland and the Carnegie Library and Museum, where I was working.
I stayed at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh while doing genealogical research at the Carnegie Library in nearby Oakland. The price was good but the room was a little run down. Good in room amenities (shampoo, etc.) but everything else was just a bit dingy. It is conveniently located to much of what Pittsburgh has to offer. We were able to walk to restaurants and shops and a quick drive up the hill to meet family members at LaMont Restaurant. I guess $30 a night for parking is pretty standard for a major city, but it seemed a little steep to me. I did like having a decent restaurant for breakfast on the premises.

Tiny room

Posted May 4, 2014
Pros: Great location and Great view.
Cons: Very little sound buffering between rooms. I could hear conversations in the room next to me, that went quite late by the way.
Room was extra tiny. Had a fabulous view, but it is a good thing I was alone, this was one of the tiniest rooms I have ever stayed in.

Old hotel with poor quality of renovation work

Posted May 1, 2014
Pros: Not much
Cons: See comments
Location: Not a good neighborhood and no where to eat other than hotel and McDonalds. Charged$18.00 for buffet breakfast and food was not good
At 7 30 pm our room still had not been cleaned. I called 3 times before 7 30 asking that the room be cleaned but it wasn't done. The night manager informed me nothing could be done as the cleaners had gone home and then told me I had a do not disturb sign on the door which was not the case because there wasn't a sign available. The dusting was non - existent. Plumbing was terrible as the entire time we could hear toilets flushing and showers being used. They advertise they are good for allergy sufferers which was not the case. I had to sleep on towells because they told me they did not have non-feathered pillows during my 3 day stay. Overall it was a terrible experience.
