Wonderful location in heart of PlacervillePosted Jul 4, 2015
Pros: really historic, totally quiet, felt like we were back in time, really cool old pics of people from 100 or so years ago
Location: many restaurants, bars, shops literally at your door step.
Only stayed one night. Had a girl's night with sister and a friend. Location was perfect. Able to walk to restaurants, shops, bars. Karaoke going on across the way. Really fun. Hotel was quiet, had a great night's sleep. Staff was super friendly. Gave us discount cards to several places upon our arrival. Had a great breakfast across the street the next morning (California grill?) and used discount card. Stayed in a two bedroom suite for a great price $129. Had a kitchenette. Very comfortable beds.

Beautiful Historic HotelPosted Jun 28, 2015
Cons: Maybe include some breakfast pastries with the coffee and juice to enjoy in the peaceful courtyard
Location: We didn't get much time to explore as we were in town for a wedding, but we have already planned on returning
This was an amazing place to stay. We just loved it. The staff was so very friendly.

NO ACPosted Jun 2, 2015
Pros: nice old hotel, interesting elevator
Cons: AIR CONDITIONING
Location: friendly bar across the street, also very good food at the restaurant across the street.
The hotel was nice but it might as well had no AC. it was 70 outside and 85 in the room...at night it cooled down to 80. They tell you to open a window which would be great if there was any breeze blowing at all. the only way to stay remotely cool was sit by the window. Nice town, nice staff, nice room except for the temp which made the stay almost unbearable

Cary House VisitPosted Apr 15, 2015 on Hotels
My daughter and I were there for a single night's stay. The hotel is a wonderful historic place in a scenic, historic town. I did not expect luxury, but more character and a fun experience. It was all that and more. Very clean, the people were great and we enjoyed ourselves a great deal. We walked all the way down main street for dinner and breakfast, stopping in the little shops and had great fun and food. A really nice getaway!

Would not recommendPosted Apr 1, 2015 on Hotels
When we arrived at 8:30pm the hotel door was locked. Fortunately there was a sign on the door with the night managers telephone number. Even though my confirmation showed my correct arrival date the manager said we weren't due to arrive until the following day. My children and I were eventually accommodated and the historic rooms have been renovated and were nice. However about 10:30 pm there was a crew doing road work right in front of our window and this went on for some time. We didn't experience a welcoming stay at all in this hotel - which ideally should have at least mentioned the road work when we checked in and offered something to offset the inconvenience. However the following morning the city came alive. There are many nice shops and the shop owners were very kind.

The Cary House in Placerville - it was great.Posted Mar 12, 2015 on Hotels
What a neat place... We stopped by on a whim, found Cary House on the internet and were not disappointed. It's a beautifully kept historic hotel with quite a history. The town is a great walk-a-bout too. Lots of shops and history to check out. The hotel staff treated us fine and although this hotel did not have a complimentary breakfast like many do, they suggested a breakfast place across the street which was super in its own right.
