Holiday Inn was fine

Posted Nov 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
Nothing special about the hotel. I have stayed at Holiday Inns a lot, but this one had no strong qualities. Max's Cafe was excellent, but the hotel was not quite there. I looked for a guide of restaurants in the room, and there was nothing. The room seemed a bit tired and drab. The temperature was not controllable and kept staying at 75 no matter what we did, and so we were hot all of the time. The staff was excellent.

We were only there for one night, but everything was wonderful. The hotel restaurant was good too.

Convenient

Stay was satisfying. It would help if they had microwaves in the rooms.

E-Z off... E-Z on...

Great location right off HI 80 and 49...easy to get to and to get back on the road. Very accommodating staff, nice clean updated room. Very close to all Auburn attractions; right on 49 if you're going to Grass Valley/Nevada City. Only negative...the elevator is in a weird location! Have to walk for miles down halls to find...not the staffs fault, even they think it's weird. And only one elevator for whole, large building.

One night stay to move on to Forest Hill

Posted Sep 29, 2014 on Hotels.com
I liked the hotel overall. It looks better in the photos but it was still a good stay. Only problem upon walking into our room is immediately noticing it was a "smoking" room rather than a "non smoking" like we booked. We went right back to the lobby where the lady behind the desk said that it wasnt specified and I argued that it was. She switched our room and took care of it so I cant say anything bad. I liked the Hotel but for the little time we were there, we should have booked the nearby Comfort Inn for half the cost. Location of this hotel was perfect and right next to I80. I'd stay again if the price was less.

Most everything was fine with the stay and about what I expected for this type of hotel. The TV and channel selection were both larger than I expected. Only a few small downsides: (1) the person who checked me in at the front desk had a strong odor of cigarettes; (2) the elevator had a half full soda bottle and cigarette butts in it; (3) my room was near the staircase so I'd hear kids making noise once and a while.

Gem of Auburn

We were pleasantly surprised of the loveliness of this hotel. The location is great, directly off the freeway and walking distance to Old Town. The room was clean and quiet. They have a nice pool area and a little exercise room, which we did use, along with a business center. Max's restaurant was fabulous, they had an Heirloom tomato special's menu. We chose two of the items and both were delicious. Also had the salmon (very good).

Better than expected

Nice sized room, very clean and quiet. So power friendly staff. Not to much in walking distance (the location/street it's on don't really facilitate it), but it is close to the historic downtown area. Only thing I didn't like is there was no way to adjust the ac so it wasn't blowing directly on the person in the bed closest to the window.
