“Awesome”
Awesome place! Staff, experience, beach, calm atmosphere...
“Great location!”
This hotel was terrific. It is clean, modern and the staff are all very helpful and kind. We loved that it was less than a minute walk to the beach. The grounds and all well kept, we also enjoyed the hotel restaurant. The rooms had all the latest amenities and house keeping did a great job. It is in walking distance to several great restaurants and close to all of the beach activities you could think of. I assume that this hotel is rated 2 1/2 stars because it does not have a "spa" facility or in room movies. In my opinion it is a underrated hotel. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation in a upscale hotel.
“playa hermosa hotel”
over all very nice hotel
“can't wait to go back!!”
Hotel Playa hermosa is a wonderful Hotel, the food & staff at the Hotel were both incredible. I looked at reviews before i chose this hotel and i was very excited that the pictures did not do this property any justice. The Hotel is breath taking and well kept. The food is incredible, I had most of my meals at the Hotel and every meal was great, I had the best ice cream I had ever eaten. I told my server Carlos that if ice cream is served in heaven, it would taste just like this. Even though some of the employees did not speak english, they all tried to communicate with you. I traveled by myself and I thought that I would feel lonely at some point but the staff at this Hotel did not give me a chance to feel lonely. Everyone was very pleasant and took very good care of me and did not let me feel lonley at all. If anything I gained a lot of friends at Hotel Playa Hermosa. I want to say thank you!! to all the employees at Hotel Playa Hermosa for being so kind and welcoming.
“Great Hotel”
My girlfriend and I loved the room we had. It was on the 3rd floor walk-up, but the room was gorgeous. 2 Queen size beds, 2 TVs large windows which exposed the rain forest. I believe that for some reason we had the only room in the main buidling. The other guests stayed in mini apartments/bungalows. I don't know how large the rooms were. The entire hotel itself seemed to blend in with the environment - the hotel was built around trees which reached up to at least the 3 floor and higher. The pool was very small, but who needs a pool when the Pacific Ocean is only 50-100 yards away. We only ate breakfast there. The food was alright. There are several restaurants within a 5-25 minute walk if you want to explore. Just walk down the beach an you'll see some. Near the far end of the beach, you'll see a yellow gate (it looks like something you'll see at a railroad crossing). Walk down the road and you'll see some other restaurants. I didn't eat there, so I can only talk about their existence, not quality.
“This is a beautiful hotel.”
My wife and I made the long drive from San Jose to Playa Hermosa. When we arrived we were happy and relieved. The setting for the hotel and villas was absolutely beautiful. Villas located throughout the tropical gardens were excellent. Great pool area. The transition from the villas through the trees to the beach was excellent and very picturesque. Fantastic restaurant and bar areas with open air walls. The staff was extremely friendly and cooperative. We will definitely return. Next time, from the U.S., we will fly into Liberia ( only a few miles away) instead of San Jose.
“Naturally beautiful beachside hotel”
Never have I been to a hotel that has blended so seamlessly into its natural, lush surroundings. This is a new, updated, fresh hotel, that is surrounded by lush vegetation and right up on a gorgeous, quiet stretch of beach. The restaurant/bar could be a little cheaper, but happy hour is two-for-one and portions are generous. I was upgraded to a lovely mini-suite and the staff was very accommodating and nice when I had to stay several extra days because of Hurricane Sandy. I would come back here in a second for a quiet, relaxing beach vacation. Recommend strongly. Great place!
“Great for Romance or families”
If you want a quiet hotel on a quiet beach this is the one. ( flat even surf, no big waves, dark sand).
“Beautiful hotel and locatioon”
We stayed here as the second part of our trip in Costa Rica. It is nestled on the beach in a well protected cove in Playa Hermosa. We went during the "green season" but it never rained and only threatened to with thunder and dark clouds one day. The rooms were well equipped with fans, air conditioner, a mini frig and beautiful furnishings. The restaurant had delicious food and a beautiful atmosphere - open air seating basically on the beach. My husband loved the calm, warm waters of the ocean and beautiful beach. My only complaint is that the staff didn't have the warm Costa Rica vibe but they were very professional and efficient. We went on a few day trips to Rincon de la Vieja and other local beaches and it was very easy to come and go. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again next time I'm in Costa Rica.
“Pleasant hotel on the beach”
Very nice setting on the beach. The bay was secluded and not very crowded. The set up of the suite we stayed in was very pleasing. We asked for help with a door that did not close properly and the repairs were made quickly. I would go back. Much better bang for the buck than hotels we stayed in Monteverde and Arenal
