I found this all-inclusive resort lacking in many ways. When you arrive, it's confusing because it shares space with another resort. You can enter early, but they charge an extra $40USD to eat at the buffet. You can use the facilities, but there's only one buffet restaurant, which doesn't offer much variety. The breakfast was repetitive, with the same options each day. They should offer separate fruit choices instead of mixed bowls, as not everyone likes every fruit. Some staff members were friendly, but others seemed to prioritize white guests. Also, you can't easily walk from your room to the pool; you have to take two shuttles. The rooms were spacious but outdated. Despite the nice facilities, I won't be coming back.

Overall the stay was great! There’s definitely room for improvement. The view is amazing and the best for the sunset hands down! The rooms need updating. The beds aren’t as bad as everyone makes them seem in reviews. The quality of everything in the room is dated and needs a face lift. The air conditioning is not good and we had ours the lowest it goes. The doors weren’t really sealed so at night when it was really windy they would be very noisy as they rattled. It was nice that the food was somewhat switched up daily. Bar drinks weren’t that strong so we stuck to long islands. The staff was very very nice! Vanessa the travel agent in hotel lobby was great and very knowledgeable! She even was very quick to let us know when one of our excursions got canceled and helped us look at other options or gave us the option of the money back. The activity staff was very fun and very nice! Don’t skip out on the activities! They had prizes that included bottles is champagne. They take the USD everywhere for payment as most workers in Costa Rica get paid in USD now. Was easy and cheap to get an Uber to get around to other towns. The beach was better than coco beach! Some will say coco is better but the sand there was mucky! Hotel beach (Playa Hermosa) is great! The beach you could take a shuttle that runs around 15min to each stop or it’s about a 5-10 min walk. If you don’t like walking in the 98° weather then just wait for the shuttle. Bring a lot of sunscreen as it’s around $50 USD!

All of the staff were amazing. The property was located right by the beach and close to other adventures nearby. It’s a bit outdated, but still nice. My only concern was the air conditioning is not good and you will be hot even at night.

The property overall was good. It is an older resort situated on a cliff over looking the water. Parking was free, however, it was not close to our room. Unloading and loading was the only challenge, but it was not a big deal to us. There are a lot of stairs depending on where you are staying to get to your room. They do have a tram that runs every 15 min to help with all the stairs and up hill walking.

Elvis the bartender was muy bueno! Place was peaceful with excellent views. The shuttles around the property and to the beach were nice. Bedrooms were good sized, nice bathrooms and good balconies. No issues with staff or service.

I enjoyed my stay here, I feel it could use some revamping but for the cost, I felt it was well worth the money. I enjoyed everyone we encountered there, that worked at the resort and the view is breathtaking. My experience over all here was good!

I had an absolutely dreadful experience at this hotel. Not only did they run out of water, leaving guests unable to use the restroom, wash our hands, or shower, but the staff's lack of communication and indifference to the situation was appalling. Despite going over 36 hours without water, there was no update or apology from the staff. When we called for information, they were uninformative and seemed utterly unconcerned. Upon checking out, there wasn't even a hint of an apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused by the hotel's water shortage. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this establishment at all costs.

The room was warm took three days to get that addressed. There was only one buffet not three restaurants pools are not like in the pictures and needed more umbrellas out there and the liquor is bottom shelf. Andrew is very basic nothing like the pictures this resort misrepresented itself. And the location is not where it says on the website. Oh, and they had water problems one day with no water throughout the resort. Staff was friendly and helpful, but won’t be going back there again.

The staff were lovely, our room was fine, not fancy, but all we needed w/ working AC and a beautiful view. If you’re not paying all inclusive, and staying in the villas with your own food, it’s a good location for that. The spa experience was great. The food was awful. For an ocean side resort there was only fish (which was severely overcooked, as were most things) one night, and no seafood or shellfish. Either they are not buying the best ingredients, or, they’re not being stored adequately. The options were limited. The “fresh” fruits were always sad looking. It became depressing having to eat there everyday; we went to other restaurants as much as we could (not in budget). There is almost no shade by the smaller hotel pool, save for a small section on either side for max 12-16 people. The wet-bar pool has slightly more shade, but it’s also quite limited. They do not serve you poolside, you go get drinks yourself. Bring a water bottle to refill, there is also no water service just jugs around the resort (and 2 that get refilled every day in your room). If you get up early, there is plenty of lounges down at the beach front, which was the best and most enjoyable part. We also had no water for 16 hours, then had not enough water pressure when it came back; we went 2 days without the ability to shower. There was no communication or considerations made for this major inconvenience. Keep your expectations low, bring your own hot sauce, and make the best of it…

This property had amazing views of the bay and the beach was easily accessible. It was really nice being all inclusive, but the food was just okay. Both pool areas we visited were nice and there was plenty of chaise lounges and other seating. The staff members were all very nice and helpful. Our room was quite dated and could use a good refurbishing. I would recommend this resort as long as you are not expecting gourmet cuisine and pristine sleeping quarters.

There wasn’t much choice or variety in the food, but the staff and the eating area made up for quite a bit of that. We were warned that there was only one restaurant so that was no surprise. There were some fun activities throughout the day. Also, there was a shuttle that came every 10-15 minutes to take you to the beach or front desk. The front desk was awesome in helping us choose just the right activities off campus. All in all, we were very happy with our week at Villas Sol. Thanks, everyone!

I booked this resort for my bday. Had a cake towel on the bed with balloons desserts and champagne in the room but no fork to eat the dessert. Room amenities are lacking, bring your own toiletries, empty mini bar fridge, one restaurant with eh food options/taste. Only one towel center which you have to go to reception wait for a trolley to take you to the wet bar. Poor entertainment center making the property boring. The snack/food at wet bar could be way better! They made burgers with no cheese, lettuce, tomato options. Just mayo and a sweet sauce. No ketchup! There was a mix of more locals and foreigners. No clock/pen/pad in room, only 4 hangers provided no ironing board to iron, the full body mirror is inside the closet where you would hang your clothes. Getting around the property in the trolleies is like a roller coaster due to hills and curves. No shade area in the main pool, once 11a hits the pool is empty due to the sun beaming. Ate in local restaurants 2 of the nights. Super close to airport is a plus, the view of the sunset a plus, as well as the fresh fruit. Compared to other resorts all inclusive I have stayed at, this one needs to upgrade/step up their game. It also shares space with condovac which aren’t as nice as villa sol. Beach is public and you will encounter locals selling merchandise. Beach water was warm which was nice.

You could tell the villa had been “cleaned” but maybe broom swept and tidied at the most. We found hair on the bedding, no shampoo/conditioner in the bathroom, no extra towels/washcloths, dirty countertops…. To have spent over $400 for a one night stay after a canceled flight and all day in an airport, I had hoped for a much more welcoming and clean stay. We arrived less than 5 minutes after their restaurants closed and the front desk did absolutely nothing to help us find food nearby. No recommendations at all- just “our restaurants closed 5 minutes ago, sorry.” Not to mention, there was a window missing in the bathroom above the shower and I got more mosquito bites in one night than my entire stay in Tamarindo. I don’t recommend this place at all. You’ll find better accommodations at a holiday inn for $150- where we would’ve stayed but they were all full due to several canceled flights that day.

The room was clean when we arrived but not cleaned each day until the night before we left. It was windy most days and windows had no tracks so they banged in the wind. Very firm King bed. Had to pay $2 for coffee in rooms. Septic system just below our room, smelled the entire time we were there. Two small pools always had debris from trees. Pool chairs were quite often broken and twice the back collapsed during use. Not enough servers in the one restaurant and they were more interested in talking to each other than bringing coffee or drinks. Quite often they forget what we asked for. Food was often cold and overcooked. No complementary shuttle back to the airport. They would arrange a ride and we were charged $69 US. Another couple were charged $52.

No shade around the pool. It is very hot during the day so did not use the area as much as I would like. Food was ok but targeted to local food so keep your expectations in check. Beach is lovely but the property is on a steep slope so the beach transport is good and essential.

I book 3 rooms there We got there around 9:30 am on 5/04 the front desk people was not very helpful they told us that we couldn’t check in till 3 pm we waited 6 hours finally we got our rooms it was hot humid no AC on the front desk they didn’t even offer us water they had a small fridge there with beer and water for sale it was all warm the food was very limited there were hardly fruits no ice cream and drinks selections the food menu was the same every day. Food was more like traditional food not for tourist services people was very slow to attend us I travel at least 3 times a year and I been a lot of all inclusive resorts in México Cuba punta cana they know how to welcome you treat you welcome and get you on your room right away this resort needs to improve a lot ☹️

I read other reviews prior to booking and most of the reviews are accurate. Its a nice place for a short stay. Beautiful ocean view from my room on the 3rd floor. There is only one dining option the buffet which did not have a variety of dishes, the drinks were watered down, intresting wine was served in flute glasses. The room was clean and kudos to whoever the house keeper was for my room they made nice animals with the towels. That was nice. The beach area seemed public so need to have your own chair and umbrella. Transportation around the property was great. I wish the pool was divided for adults and kids separately. You could not enjoy sitting at the swim up bar without the kids jumping and splashing in the pool. Felt safe to walk around the property even in my mad dash at 5 AM to go for an excursion. Overall great experience.

For the price paid the hotel is worth it. Location is excellent, rooms are clean, staff is friendly, the hotel has a shuttle to take guest to the beach, villas, hotel or administration. However, the food isn’t good, it is actually bad, the furniture in the restaurant, beach and pool area is old and dirty, in general the hotel needs some renovation.

We had to but this place last minute because we missed our flight. There was no hairdryer, no ice bucket, and no regular size washcloths. The safe did not work. The telephone did not work, nor any other sockets on the left side of the bed. I told the front desk of all of these issues, but none of them work resolved, but the wash rags. Room was clean with lots of pillows. The view was amazing. And the resort is a short ride by shuttle that they provide to the beach.

Staff was very friendly, beach was gorgeous and the views were incredible. However, the villa we stayed in was not the cleanest, and the resort is not very walkable. Although, they do have shuttles to take you around the resort, which is nice.

We liked the staff and pools. The food was ok. First day we arrived our room had dirty floor, literally dust sand and hair on the floor, we have a 7 months old so he is always playing on the floor, we had to call the front desk for a clean up. The rest of the week the room Was well cleaned.

We needed one night in Liberia for our flight next day so we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves for 17 hours, having said that, poolside after being on the property five hours and reading other reviews it all came together. - Thankyou Villas Sol Beach Resort for allowing us to check in four hours early and allowing us to eat and drink and enjoy the pools. - Thankyou for checking our bags - Super friendly check in staff/cart guy/airport shuttle guy/ gift shop girl/ main restaurant staff - Bartenders seemed a little beaten, and in between smiles, but maybe I would be too dealing with particular guests - Exceptional view, aesthetically pretty buildings and architecture, breezeways, hallways - Rooms seem a bit tired - Food was 3 star for one day but any more than that would start feeling 1.5 star. Menu seems tired and unimaginative. A menu change would be excellent - Heavily suspect liquor is watered down, a coco loco, pura vida, daquiri and g and t in 60 min and zero buzz - I was warned to shut balcony door due to raccoons or whatever but holy smokes one opened my balcony door at 200 AM and I thought a human was entering my room. Completely out of resorts control but a warning to LOCK balconies would be appreciated. The initial vision of being a high quality resort is visible but doesn’t quite hit the mark. Easy fix is real liquor and a menu change would gain this resort a full star. Suitable for two days at most but a one week stay would be an endurance.
